My little one is getting a want, wear, need, read from santa and we were planning to get him his first shoes (he's almost 16 months) but they won't have them in until January so we can't do that now and need to think of something right now!!

He's got -

Want - toy drum

Wear - cocomelon pjs

Read - bluey board book

Please help with ideas!! I know he won't care, know or remember before anyone says that but I will 🤷‍♀️🙈🤣

Water bottle? Something edible?

Kanaloa · 19/12/2022 15:31

I mean, aren’t you pointlessly restricting yourself really? Trying to stick to a rhyme that means nothing?

But anyway, what about a pack of snacks or something? There’s nothing that’s a true need other than food/drink/personal care so one of those really would be the only options.

LateAF · 19/12/2022 15:32

seriously, just save yourself the stress - once he’s 4+ you will actually have to stress about presents so enjoy this period of easy gifts while it lasts.

It's only for santa presents everything else I've got him is just stuff I think he will enjoy :)

socks to go with his new shoes?

ScottishBeth · 19/12/2022 15:33

Some reins or similar for when he's walking about?

onmywayamarillo · 19/12/2022 15:35

I used to put
New sippy cup/water cup
Dummmys (if he has them)
Socks always for all kids (they are now adults) 🤣
Snacks of choice
Maybe a chocolate coin?

onmywayamarillo · 19/12/2022 15:36

Or how about those no mess colouring books or if you can bare it some washable felt tips? For his colouring book?

TokenGinger · 19/12/2022 15:37

A toothbrush? We got some Peppa Pig toothbrushes for 90p from Primark.

FriedEggChocolate · 19/12/2022 15:38

tooth brush? Slipper socks, so easier to toddle in?

Turnthelightoff · 19/12/2022 16:31

Bubble bath/

NEmama · 19/12/2022 16:33

He won't remember so just get something you'd buy anyway x

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 19/12/2022 16:38

Ive never known anyone to do the want, need, wear, read thing AND other presents usually people do it to limit how many gifts they give and then do 1 extra gift from Father christmas 🎅 what about a new coat? Toothbrush, toiletries and new towel?

StroppyTop · 19/12/2022 16:45

Little rucksack?

diffandproud · 19/12/2022 18:42

a drum?? Seriously, is this the only toy your son will get, I do not believe I know anyone like you in real life.
A drum for Christmas Day??
All day long he has a drum to play with😳

Favouritefruits · 19/12/2022 18:44

Electric toothbrush, brush baby do some great ones for babies and toddlers.p, only about £10 in boots.

So then doing that theme is meaningless.

It does say this is just from Santa, but also the child is 16 months old. He won’t be wounded he “only” got a drum for Christmas. My 16 month old is getting not very much because it’s meaningless to her, and we’re going through a financially trying time. Bad mum of the year award right here 😂😂

At 16 months I would hope he’s already walking about!

Pumperthepumper · 19/12/2022 18:58

Just get him something else he’ll enjoy.

WallaceinAnderland · 19/12/2022 19:00

Haha this is the funniest thread OP. What is the point of the want/need nonsense for a 16 month old who will have no clue 😂

Relax, get him a toy.

SouthOfFrance · 19/12/2022 19:08

Bottle of water
Loaf of bread
An Orange
Multi vitimins
A coat

thesnow · 19/12/2022 19:10

Children need toys.

Plenty of children don't walk until 18 months- that's the cut off for "normal".

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/12/2022 19:13

I also don’t think this rhyme is meant for kids of 16 months who won’t remember or know what’s going on.

Its aimed at older children who can understand the different between want and need, otherwise there’s no point.

Id really just get whatever you feel like - you’ve probably got enough as it is, esp if these aren’t his only presents (and tbh I’d think they are sufficient for a one yr old)

Hooded animal themed towel for bath time?
