To ask for help with a 'need' present from santa ASAP??

My little one is getting a want, wear, need, read from santa and we were planning to get him his first shoes (he's almost 16 months) but they won't have them in until January so we can't do that now and need to think of something right now!!

He's got -

Want - toy drum

Wear - cocomelon pjs

Read - bluey board book

Please help with ideas!! I know he won't care, know or remember before anyone says that but I will 🤷‍♀️🙈🤣

Could you buy him a bottle of wine and then drink it yourself because I think he needs his more to relax a bit

AnneTwackie · 19/12/2022 19:20

His mum*

ScottishBeth · 19/12/2022 19:24

Well he doesn't have shoes yet, so I'm guessing the walking so far has been indoors.

a drum?? Seriously, is this the only toy your son will get, I do not believe I know anyone like you in real life.
A drum for Christmas Day??
All day long he has a drum to play with😳

He's 16 months old.

And presumably will still be allowed to play with his other toys. I don't think there is a rule where on Christmas day you can only play with new toys.

At 16 months I would hope he’s already walking about!

Lots of children are not walking confidently outside at 16 months, presumably why he doesn't have any shoes yet?

itsgettingweird · 19/12/2022 19:38

I think anything is ok for that age under the umbrella of "need".

That's because babies and toddlers need toys and stimulating activity as much as cups and toothbrushes.

But if you want to stick to it to continue it for every year I agree socks or vests or something you'd have to buy him anyway!

takealettermsjones · 19/12/2022 19:40

I'd get a couple of the suction plates from Bamboo Bamboo.

Iwantamarshmallowman · 19/12/2022 19:48

I got mine duvet covers .
it's hard to say becuase only you know what your kid needs.

Exhausteddog · 19/12/2022 20:00

My kids are teenagers and they always get a toothbrush and some toiletries in their stocking. When they were little it was those little magic flannels that expand or things with characters. It's got quite expensive for 16 year old DD as she's very particular about her skincare. 13 year old DS gets a bottle of lynx shower gel to encourage regular showers...🤣

UnbeatenMum · 19/12/2022 20:02

Jigsaw?

YouScumbagYouMaggotHeresKevinTheCarrot · 19/12/2022 20:06

It's not really a need if you are just buying it for the sake of it to fulfill a rhyme that's sole purpose is to reduce greed and waste.
16 month year olds don't need anything much, other than a happy mum. A bottle of gin for yourself would hence fit the remit.

LikeTearsInRain · 19/12/2022 20:11

Lol

minimadgirl · 19/12/2022 20:20

Felt tips, colouring crayons, chalk pens, paint sticks, anything crafty. More crafty items are always needed. I got my daughter's washable felt tips and one of those white board drawing pads.

We've got my 14 month a drum as well from Santa.

So then doing that theme is meaningless.

It's so he will know what to expect from santa and know he can ask for one thing he really wants 🤷‍♀️

Well that's really rude.. some children don't walk until 18 months... he's doing between 2-8 steps right now

Bubble bath
Bibs
Toothbrush

MissGroves · 20/12/2022 00:20

He is 16 months - honestly he won't really understand and you are just creating stress fir yourself! Enjoy your Xmas with your little one and save the present stress for when he is older and gets it!

VioletLemon · 20/12/2022 00:21

Since he will be totally oblivious, why are you giving yourself the hassle, just get his favourite food in or a big cardboard box!!!

givethistokevin · 20/12/2022 00:23

I thought the point of want/need/wear/read was for children old enough to understand the concept. I'm in my 40s and I thought i understood it until now. Why are you doing it and giving outs of presents too?

Tinselpipes · 20/12/2022 00:29

OP if you want to do the joyless rhyme then you've got it wrong - these should be the presents from you, not Santa if you're doing a separate stocking

Rainbowshit · 20/12/2022 00:36

Get him some kids cutlery or a nice plate set.

CatSeany · 20/12/2022 00:38

I'd probably buy a really nice outfit. It isn't a need I guess, but it isn't a want and everyone needs clothing. We have a company nearby that does handmade baby clothes which are lovely but expensive, so I get them outfits on special occasions.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 20/12/2022 00:39

No shop has any shoes his size until January ?? Are you sure ??

SemperIdem · 20/12/2022 00:42

Is he walking? If so you could get him a balance bike. That is the singular toy item I wish my daughter (7) had had when she was very small, they seem to make a massive difference when learning to ride a bike
