My little one is getting a want, wear, need, read from santa and we were planning to get him his first shoes (he's almost 16 months) but they won't have them in until January so we can't do that now and need to think of something right now!!

He's got -

Want - toy drum

Wear - cocomelon pjs

Read - bluey board book

Please help with ideas!! I know he won't care, know or remember before anyone says that but I will 🤷‍♀️🙈🤣

Are you planning on maintaining Santa bringing 4 gifts only in the long term? How joyless

Joyless how? 4 gifts and a stocking from santa then loads more from us and grandparents...

I didn't realise you were doing a stocking ad well
so complicated!
but you do you, it's not joyless in that case just a faff, as evidenced by your mumsnet thread asking for help to complete it! I bet it drops off in a year or two 😆

Sparkletastic · 20/12/2022 08:38

I'd just do the stocking from Santa otherwise you risk many more years agonising over this.

ASimpleLobsterHat · 20/12/2022 08:53

What's in the stocking? Why are there gifts from Santa as well as the stocking? Surely the gifts from Santa go in the stocking? It does sound like you're making a lot of work for yourself!

Ozgirl75 · 20/12/2022 13:20

Honestly, just relax and buy whatever you like for your child. Don’t follow some rando poem just because you think you should.

Ozgirl75 · 20/12/2022 13:21

I just read your most recent post anyway - you’re not following it in any event, so don’t worry about it!

MoanySloney · 20/12/2022 13:25

My kids are 9 and 7YO. I have got no fucking idea what we got either of them when they were 16m old from Santa. Plastic dinosaus from the poundshop probably with DS1.

You're being ridiculous.

DuckoffXnas · 20/12/2022 13:26

Not sure mine got any presents at that age! You've bought plenty!!!

WTAFnojustno · 20/12/2022 13:29

4 gifts that must conform to a made up rhyme and a stocking from Santa?

For a baby?

OP this is a lot of mental energy for something that he won't even really notice much less remember.

Buy yourself some Bailey's and chill!

ThePumpking · 20/12/2022 13:30

Nappies! You always need nappies!

Nevermind31 · 20/12/2022 13:34

Plasters.
kids love plasters and need them for every little ouch - it makes them instantaneously feel better. They need them, they want them, they love them,
otherwise - why bother? You could get him a box and he’d be happy…

Swimming lessons?

Hugasauras · 20/12/2022 13:35

It all sounds a bit garbled and confused. I've never heard the four present thing as being from Santa. Just do a stocking and one gift from Santa and don't buy stuff just to fulfil that twee little rhyme. Especially for a toddler who doesn't even know what Xmas is!

determinedtomakethiswork · 20/12/2022 13:36

I think he needs another book.

stormelf · 20/12/2022 13:36

Bubble bath/toothbrush/toothpaste. That is already needed my three got them in their Santa stockings last year and I didn't need to worry about running out of bubble bath or toothpaste for months. This year they all have the same

Theoldwoman · 20/12/2022 13:38

Baby bath wash or shampoo
Money box
Sippy cup

Wishawisha · 20/12/2022 13:39

Are you doing it so that when he’s 3 or 4 or older and understands you can tell him what he got when he was 1? - what was needed, wanted, worn etc?

Just draw a picture of shoes and wrap it up and say you’re going to get him his big boy shoes in the shop???
