to think the Daily Mail are utter hypocrites for being upset at the article by Clarkson about Meghan Markle

cakeorwine · 18/12/2022 10:37

The Daily Mail has been obsessed with her. Repeated articles, columns, headlines - all having a go at them. Calling them treacherous.

And then - they get upset that Clarkson writes an awful column about what he wants to see happen to Meghan

Gosh - someone gets repeatedly targeted by the mainstream media and then the lead media outlet gets upset that a prominent commentator goes too far even for them.

What did they think would happen?

Maybe if the royal family don't want members pointing out their toxicity, they shouldn't be toxic in the first place?

If someone came on here and posted about their family expecting then to work in the family business with no option to do anything else, wanting their wife to do some work for that business within hours of giving birth, asked inappropriate questions about the colour of their baby's skin, that their uncle was a sex offender and they were required to support him, that their brother was a golden child who could do no wrong and they were the also-ran, that their family were spreading gossip about them in order to protect said golden chid.... the replies on a thread like that would be a resounding "go NC".

hah love this!

Even though it wasn't 'Camilla's lunch', the DM itself certainly advertised it as such yesterday, possibly knowing of this article and deliberately planning to cause further drama.

Whether they did or otherwise, her appearance at a lunch with two notorious misogynists like Morgan and Clarkson - her being supposedly a vocal advocate against domestic abuse and violence - shows her up in a terrible light. I'd go further, and suggest she is an unfit patron for any charity standing against VAWG.

The same's true of the deafening silence emanating from the palace. They are simply standing by, giving violence and hate-speech against the spouse of their own flesh and blood a free pass.

They disgust me. This justifies every word Harry and Meghan say about the Windsors' unwillingness to protect them as long as they were detracting attention from the reputations of others in the family, as well as showing up in neon lights exactly why Meghan feared for her safety and that they both felt they had no option but to leave.

From Windsor PR: radio silence. It speaks volumes.

Iflyaway · 18/12/2022 17:44

@CampervanKween

"Hmmm, yes. lived peacefully and quietly."

Oh really? Bet you would be living "peacefully and quietly" if you were a world-wide famous person having to defend racist attacks and slurs and death threats."

Eh? Be thankful you CAN live your life-style without being permanently scrutinised and slagged off.

As for that awful Jeremy Clarkson with his disgusting article, well, he was always an odious creep.

A smidgeon of humbleness would be becoming. Not holding my breath.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 18/12/2022 17:46

NB. Even Clarkson's own daughter has stood up against her father's revolting comments.

But Harry's father and brother won't. It sends a clear message about the characters of all three.

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2022 17:48

They shouldn’t comment.

Why not?

At what point should they comment?
What comment or newspaper headline would it take for them to say "Stop, it's too much"

^It is a hate campaign with the intention to destroy her. Anyone who thinks there is no racist or sexist element in this is naive. And this is being done despite there having been credible threats against M&H's safety.....this type of shit stirring is putting them and their children at risk.
There is no way they have done anything to warrant this level of hatred and I completely respect them speaking out about it. Yes I understand that many might assume it is self indulgent when we are facing a cost of living crisis; but surely the same could be argued to any of us, that our personal problems are trivial if compared to someone else's? We know that is not true, our problems matter because they matter to us.
And all the time the 'we are very much not a racist family' royals keep silent. No public statements or demonstrations of support, so the very clear public message that M&H are out of the family and aren't entitled to it. This from a family whose members pontificate about mental health, and are also so concerned about appearances that they pay millions to an accuser rather than have a member face sexual offences charges.
For those who accuse Meghan of being a social climber; if she were that she would surely have wanted to remain within the fold? It is funny as before she even met Harry she was a successful actress who had published articles and given speeches including one on gender equality at the UN Women's Conference in 2015. Yet we are supposed to believe that now she is Public Enemy number one?
The moral of this (as far as morals can be brought into this sorry story) applies to women and it is: 'don't marry into the Royal Family because your reputation will be trashed, your peace of mind will be shattered and you will get no support from the Family nor from anyone else'.^

@Livingtothefull Well said!

mikado1 · 18/12/2022 18:00

Well done to his daughter, who didnt have to comment at all.

Imo it’s gutter press

mikado1 · 18/12/2022 18:05

But speaking out against Kate's botox or hair extensions/greys was important enough? I'm not an MM supporter, v much a neutral observer of all, but this looks dreadful if they don't say something now. Says a lot, ironically enough.

Endlesssummer2022 · 18/12/2022 18:07

I’m currently not in the UK so can see the perspective from abroad. I must say the fact Clarkson thought it was ok to write that article and Victoria Newton thought it was ok to publish it, really shows the UK in the 2022 in a poor light.

The fact Clarkson still has a lucrative media despite physically and racially attacking a subordinate boggles the mind.

I genuinely think something should be done about the UK press. People outside of the UK are seeing it as negative and toxic place.

Can you say what you’re referring to as you’ve lost me with hair extensions etc

Marsha, previously the RF spoke out to deny botox and also either extensions or to complain against coverage of Kate's greys. Trivial surely.

LindorDoubleChoc · 18/12/2022 18:16

I think it's all a bit odd. I know Jeremy Clarkson is a notorious love/hate figure but I just can't get my head round why he wrote this or why it was published. He's not a stupid man and I honestly don't think he wants to court publicity or notoriety. I can't help feeling he was trying to get across some sort of underlying message, albeit in a very questionable way.

But maybe not? And if so - WTF?

PumpkinPooSpice · 18/12/2022 18:24

I am laughing at the idea of anyone hastening the demise of a 96 year old.

Let's assume that she was unmoved by her son being outed as a rapist.

But do you really think the death of her husband one year earlier wasn't more stressful than one of her grandchildren's wives not following dress code?

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2022 18:29

I’ve missed this. Do you mean a press release from the Palace or something else?

I did just scroll on the site but it’s all condolence to Australia, patronage, baby announcements type stuff. Really dry bar the couple that everyone talked about ie M & H leaving

Can you remember the year-ish?

Endlesssummer2022 · 18/12/2022 18:37

Clarkson is a violent thug and is given millions and a national platform to share his belief that MM is worse than a woman who raped and serial murdered her children. Absolutely fucking nuts.

sinkyt · 18/12/2022 18:45

Kate clearly does have botox now though, look at her forehead over the years. no shame in it though.

Darcy101 · 18/12/2022 18:46

OlympicProcrastinator · 18/12/2022 12:55

There are on average 7 different articles that spout utter bollocks that come from ‘sources’ about Harry and Meghan every single DAY in just that one paper alone. They were the most popular royals until the ‘difficult duchess’ headlines that came from a ‘secret source’ popped up. Then the whole country lapped it up. The people that actually know them personally speak highly of them.
That paper has told the entire country what to think so yes, I think they just want to be the one to burn the witch so to speak.

I counted 18 articles on them, all negative of course, this was one day last week. Hateful paper! I never read the comments, stopped when the Meghan and Harry bashing began in earnest.

Their brief, without a doubt, is to scare, divide and upset the public with the majority of their Clickbait headlines. I don’t get it..

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2022 18:48

Ok thanks. Shame there’s no name attached just spokesman / reportedly told…

Not saying either way if a spokesman did say this but a formal statement from KC and a published press release is a different league. And I assume that’s what people are keen on when they say the King should make a statement.

Quite. And the not so underlying message he wants to convey is his horror at a woman of colour marrying into the royal family.

That and his antediluvian view of women.
