The Daily Mail has been obsessed with her. Repeated articles, columns, headlines - all having a go at them. Calling them treacherous.

And then - they get upset that Clarkson writes an awful column about what he wants to see happen to Meghan

Gosh - someone gets repeatedly targeted by the mainstream media and then the lead media outlet gets upset that a prominent commentator goes too far even for them.

What did they think would happen?

As predicted, its all got terribly messy. There allsorts of "experts" picking over every second of the netflix doc. Body language facial expressions etc.
I think H&M have made a mistake airing their dirty linen in public and in these days of toxic social media and 24 hour news channels it was never going to end well.
What done is done though and imo the best way forward for H&M, for the sake of their sanity and there beautiful children, take a couple of years away from the glare of the public and live quietly and anonymously (ish)

Or maybe it was the stress of sexual assault allegations against her son? And the big payout she made for him?

Surely this is far more stressful?

On one hand we have a whinging grandchild & on the other a son fraternising with a criminal, is alleged to be one himself & has some shady money issues. Not too mention the legal wrangling & cost to make it all go away.

I'm absolutely disgusted that this hateful opinion of Clarkson's was published. Whatever you think of Meghan Markle she's done nothing to deserve this. I think her and Harry could have handled their dissatisfaction with life in the RF differently and I doubt there'll be able to mend fences with the RF. From the point of view of their dcs it's a shame they won't get to know their cousins and heritage from Harry's family.

Yes I do think Harry and Meghan are making themselves look a bit silly but come on, centuries of entrenched wealth privilege and power, surely only the dumb as a rock cap doffers will feel sorry for the royal family.

If a man gets really riled up about this and attacks Meghan, the newspapers won't blame each other. They will blame the attackers mum, the same way women are always made responsible for men who are radicalised.

The Mail are definitely massive hypocrites, even if they are correct that it's unacceptable. What did they expect? They run 50 articles a day, all excoriating H&M and allow some truly vile BTL comments to stand. They're a disgrace, as well as Clarkson.

There has been so much vitriol and hatred directed at (particularly) Meghan and Harry that I am sadly not surprised it has come to this. There have been so many low points - one was publishing the private letter Meghan wrote to her father. This Clarkson article is just a new low.

It is a hate campaign with the intention to destroy her. Anyone who thinks there is no racist or sexist element in this is naive. And this is being done despite there having been credible threats against M&H's safety.....this type of shit stirring is putting them and their children at risk.

There is no way they have done anything to warrant this level of hatred and I completely respect them speaking out about it. Yes I understand that many might assume it is self indulgent when we are facing a cost of living crisis; but surely the same could be argued to any of us, that our personal problems are trivial if compared to someone else's? We know that is not true, our problems matter because they matter to us.

And all the time the 'we are very much not a racist family' royals keep silent. No public statements or demonstrations of support, so the very clear public message that M&H are out of the family and aren't entitled to it. This from a family whose members pontificate about mental health, and are also so concerned about appearances that they pay millions to an accuser rather than have a member face sexual offences charges.

For those who accuse Meghan of being a social climber; if she were that she would surely have wanted to remain within the fold? It is funny as before she even met Harry she was a successful actress who had published articles and given speeches including one on gender equality at the UN Women's Conference in 2015. Yet we are supposed to believe that now she is Public Enemy number one?

The moral of this (as far as morals can be brought into this sorry story) applies to women and it is: 'don't marry into the Royal Family because your reputation will be trashed, your peace of mind will be shattered and you will get no support from the Family nor from anyone else'.

I expect H&M will be consulting lawyers over it so Clarkson and The Sun can expect to be sued.

Maybe a better AIBU would have been to expect the King to condemn this publicly.

It's not a very edifying article and shouldn't have been published. Clarkson is and always has been problematic

Jeremy Clarkson is an old school nob, my friends got an older husband and he’s just like that. However, I think he’s right when he says this will end in divorce - probably when people get bored of paying for the story and Harry becomes a scrub as she’s the only one with the ability to make a living 😂

I said this at the time - I thought that all that stress at her age would quicken the demise. I also think given Charles's age, it can't be good for him either!

Jeremy Clarkson is awful though and what he wrote was disgusting. He's an awful person anyway, so not sure this is entirely a surprise!
