to think the Daily Mail are utter hypocrites for being upset at the article by Clarkson about Meghan Markle

The Daily Mail has been obsessed with her. Repeated articles, columns, headlines - all having a go at them. Calling them treacherous.

And then - they get upset that Clarkson writes an awful column about what he wants to see happen to Meghan

Gosh - someone gets repeatedly targeted by the mainstream media and then the lead media outlet gets upset that a prominent commentator goes too far even for them.

What did they think would happen?

They brought out this show on Netflix attacking their own family who they know can't answer back

Yes they can. But they won't. There's a big difference. This is a family who believe themselves somehow above explanation or justification of their own behaviour: usually to the people who keep them in their obscenely over-privileged position in the first place.

They said they wanted a quiet life but have taken 100 million pounds and sold their family down the river.

Are you aware of the connotations of that phrase? You might want to look them up if not.

Now people are talking about it. They wouldn't be if they had done what they said and lived peacefully and quietly.

Some people are not willing to take ill-treatment, racism and misogyny lying down. No matter how upper-class or privileged the people who are dishing it out.

I dont think he should have written that article, it's absolutely disgusting. But he is responsible for his own behaviour. It's like blaming Megan for what Harry has done. Again he's a grown man and he has done this off his own back. Everyone needs to own their own shit. There's so many layers here of people behaving badly and not taking accountability for their own actions.

Ah ok so they brought it on themselves. If they’d shut up he wouldn’t have written a vile article so it’s all their own fault. Talk about victim blaming!

YABU for suspecting the DM might not be hypocrites tbh

Ellaelle · 18/12/2022 13:04

Sickening very Sickening and to be honest that horrible newspaper is loving it. People want to blame everything on princess Meghan, even the demise of the late Queen. Absolutely ridiculous!! If anything they really want to blame it on anything they should blame it on the shame she felt because prince Andrew was aligned with people like epstine and savil

Clarkson is Clarkson!
What did people expect?
There seems to be a lack of sense of humour lately.. yeah, flame me, couldn't care less.
H&M's lies & brainwashing the public.. too bloody much.

Livingtothefull · 18/12/2022 13:08

Clarkson was btw at Queen Camilla's Christmas lunch earlier this week; alongside Piers Morgan. That says it all about the support (or lack of) M&H are likely to receive from the rest of the family.

Yes the victim blaming from some posters here is sickening. Someone even claimed they 'know' Meghan is narcissistic. Whatever some may think of her, could we not all agree that with this article, the bottom of the barrel of hatred for Meghan has now been well and truly scraped?

Which bit of the article was a joke? Please do point out the jokes for those of us who apparently lack a sense of humour and explain why its funny.

Indeed. Clarkson is Clarkson. He's an out-and-out thug.

This is the bloke who was fired from his lucrative TV presenting job for assault. Why he's still got a platform anywhere would come as a surprise were it not the Daily Mail.

Any media willing to have their name associated with his - let alone publish articles comparing a woman who has done nothing but speak publicly about the racism and misogyny she's experienced with a mass murderer - are showing exactly who they are. Were there any degree of common decency in this world it would finish his career; were there any justice, he'd be prosecuted.

cakeorwine · 18/12/2022 11:45

Maybe a better AIBU would have been to expect the King to condemn this publicly.

Daily mail and clarkson are pretty vile, but why should Charles speak out about his son, who has called his family racist and himself a liar? To a far bigger audience.

purpledalmation · 18/12/2022 13:22

Newspapers need to stop all of it. I don't like Harry and Meghan because of what they've done and said. However if they are attacked like this, even I will begin to have a change of heart. No one deserves this level of hate.

Because he's his dad ,and his son and daughter in law and two of his grandchildren much be at risk of repercussions?
Maybe the Royal are racist ?
Remember Prince Philip and his reference to " slitty eyed" people ?

Because a prominent columnist in one of the UKs biggest papers has written an article saying that he has thoughts about Megan being stripped naked and having shit thrown at her.

Someone has to say something to get this to stop

What next?

'...why should Charles speak out about his son, who has called his family racist and himself a liar?'

Because it is his son?

And what if those allegations are indeed true? That is two members of Charles' immediate family that he has alienated: Harry and his mother Charles' 1st wife. Diana reported that Charles lied and compelled his staff to lie to her also. So I am afraid it does seem to be a pattern.

CampervanKween · 18/12/2022 10:42

Well honestly they must have completely stressed her out and ruined her final years. I bet she was sick to death of them. They do seem all out to destroy the family.

^This.

fancyacuppatea · 18/12/2022 13:29

She was 96 ,how long could we realistically have expected her to live for ?

Her Predatory son won't have helped her health issues .

JemimaTiggywinkles · 18/12/2022 14:59

Clarkson was btw at Queen Camilla's Christmas lunch earlier this week; alongside Piers Morgan. That says it all about the support (or lack of) M&H are likely to receive from the rest of the family.

Get your facts straight - it wasn’t Camilla’s lunch event. Camilla was invited to an event which Morgan and Clarkson were also invited to (alongside another 200 people). If Camilla refused to attend events that might have misogynistic journalists she’d never go anywhere! But what a good opportunity to shame another woman, hey?

Misogynist Clarkson is responsible for what he wrote, and the scumbag Sun are responsible for printing it. It was appalling, and has been widely condemned as such. Plenty of complaints to the IPSO too, so hopefully they (Clarkson and the paper) will be reprimanded for it.

M&H probably won’t get much personal support because they decided to burn those bridges. I think the palace should issue a statement condemning the article though.

Livingtothefull · 18/12/2022 15:15

I never said that Camilla hosted the lunch herself, however like it or not it has been widely reported as 'Camilla's lunch'. Yes there are likely many misogynistic journalists so hard to avoid all of them - however these are two who have been particularly vitriolic in their criticism of H&M.

At a particularly sensitive time during H&M's revelations, it was ill-advised to say the least to be at an event with them. On the other hand, RF members probably attend events like this without the public knowing anything about it; the fact that this one has been publicised indicates what message they want to convey.

Caithness · 18/12/2022 15:23

@Soothsayer1 ( initially!)

i don’t think the late Queen was ‘ an apologist for her paedophile son ‘. It was the Queen who stripped him of his titles and public role in response to the Virginia Giuffre scandal.
I’m no apologist whatsoever for Andrew - indeed, I’m far from being a royalist and I do not sit in the admirers gallery of the Sussexes - but Andrew isn’t a paedophile in the accepted definition. Virginia Giuffre was not pre pubescent.

I deplore Jeremy Clarkson’s article. It was ill judged and utterly appalling.

Time surely to moderate inflammatory and inaccurate language.

Caithness · 18/12/2022 15:31

Sorry! I pressed post too soon!
Because - I meant to say - where will it all end? Incitement to hate is surely going to have terrible consequences.

timefortinsel · 18/12/2022 15:39

The DM are vile. Clarkson is vile. The article is beyond vile. MM is a fake though. She will be delighted with this article because she can obviously use it to the max in her next scintillating "woe-is-me" Netflix documentary in a few years, when the 80 million or whatever it is from this one runs out. So Clarkson has played right into her narrative. Fool.

purplecheesecat · 18/12/2022 15:41

Nobody has to like Harry and Meghan, people can dislike and disagree with them as they please. That’s freedom of speech. However this article is outright hate speech and incitement to violence. Completely classless and disgusting. There are ways to express disagreement with people without resorting to this sort of behaviour; Clarkson is really a despicable person.

Soothsayer1 · 18/12/2022 17:17

@Caithness you are correct, I was riled up and shooting from the hip, I ought to have been much more measured🙏

Soothsayer1 · 18/12/2022 17:20

MM is a fake though
I think she is too, a player and a grifter, lets hope she makes mincemeat of Clarkson

mikado1 · 18/12/2022 17:28

Even though it wasn't 'Camilla's lunch', the DM itself certainly advertised it as such yesterday, possibly knowing of this article and deliberately planning to cause further drama.
