I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

10 year old ipad 2, battery still last longer than my newer android tablets which aren't as good. Only issue with old ipad no longer runs alot of software, but defo had moneysworth.

DS23 would quote Sam Vymes rule of buying good boots once and looking after them. He bought some four years ago in brown, and plans to buy a black pair in January, and wear them for 10 or 20 years. Easier for men than women I think, but I think it's the way to go.

Apple Mac I was lucky enough to be given it. It has lasted 10 years so far and is still as fast. When it finally gives up, I’d like to get another Mac.

Ethelfromnumber73 · 19/12/2022 22:21

Private medical care to treat my 'interstitial cystitis' (it was a chronic UTI). Gave me my life back and feel so lucky that I found an amazing doctor and was lucky enough to be able to afford to pay for treatment that is not provided by the NHS

courgettigreensadwater · 19/12/2022 22:44

@Bubl I bought an Apple Mac at the start of lock down for my DS to use and love apple products but have found it excruciatingly slow 😯 I only use it for watching TV/Netflix now and it's the most expensive TV I've ever bought 🤣😭🤣😭

Top grade coffee from a specialist company that is HIDEOUSLY epensive compared to my usual shop brand weekly shop. £25 a kilo but lasts 2 months. 2 cups in the morning gives me my bit of luxory.

BUT instead of throwing it in, i now measure it. I have been stocking up on INSTANT as i can see the day when I have to cut back,

@eldersis would you be happy to share the company name? I’m looking for some great quality coffee beans.

I can recommend some! (I'm a horrible coffee snob). I get my beans from Hackney Coffee Co. 1kg is £28 (including delivery) although they do a 20% discount on your first order. They're a small independent. I highly recommend their Kingsland for espresso:

Laser eye surgery.

A vitamix blender.

A decent sleeping bag that keeps me toasty warm below zero degrees.

ellyeth · 19/12/2022 23:30

Cashmere. It's expensive but so much more comfortable and warm than other materials.

eldersis · 19/12/2022 23:32

The company is "the love of coffee" they will roast and grind to your own specifications. Huge choice and lots of info that is WAY past my knowledge! There is a discount if you subscribe that is enough to reduce postage to zero. They usually deliver within 3 or 4 days via DHL. My special is guatemalan marygogype (also known as elephant bean)
This HONESTLY only my splurge.

I second ugg slippers and add heated seats in my car.

Not sure about the slippers - will have to try them but YES to the heated seats, will never be without them

Mamanyt · 19/12/2022 23:56

GOOD coffee beans and an easy-to-clean grinder.
