I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

Trinny of London make up. Lasts for ages. A cashmere jumper that is light as a feather and warm. Whenever I forget what I paid for an item of clothing after a year or so I often realise it was a worthwhile investment (I am not rich)!

Jillteee · 19/12/2022 17:56

Silk duvet and bedding. Best money I ever spent.

Sulusu · 19/12/2022 18:01

Solovair boots. Just like Dr Martens used to be before Dr Marten switched to a cheap manufacturer. Docs are now just a fashion item that are poor quality compared to what they used to be. My Solovairs were about £30 more than equivalent Dr Martens but the quality difference is massive. Well worth the money.

Totally agree. Canada Goose is a shameful and appalling company ☹️

Fbearsmum · 19/12/2022 18:14

Ugg slippers and high thread count bedding

IloveConkers · 19/12/2022 18:17

Quality taps

Total domestic comment from me but I love my range cooker, dual fuel not a fancy aga etc but used daily and still going strong after 14 years, took a deep breath before I ordered it but it works a treat and still looks good.

jobling · 19/12/2022 18:44

Laxer hair removal, I wish I had afforded it sooner. I'd shaved all leg hair since 11 and was one big prickle which affected my confidence!
King sized feather & Down summer / winter duvet, snuggerly!
Hugh thread count Cotton bedding

NanaRant · 19/12/2022 18:52

My bath. I bloody love it (putting my house up for sale in the New Year and I'll never be able to get one as good :-( ). Good coffee beans (Lavazza Crema de Aroma).

oosha · 19/12/2022 18:59

I bought myself a crazy expensive designer cape/wrap which is super warm and I have worn it so much. It was over £1000 but at the time I was single and earning big bucks in a consultancy role. I have never regretted it as I wear it incessantly all the time so money well spent.

But that is not what the post is about.

Spanx leggings
jimmy choo trainers
doc martens
anything classic, Barbour coats,
£2000 push bike 😂

my mottos is if you buy cheap, you buy twice. It’s more expense in the short term but less in the long term

pomers · 19/12/2022 19:54

Olaplex

cowshindtail · 19/12/2022 20:18

Divorce and Redback boots which are so comfortable and about the only footwear that I can wear painfree with having bunions and hammer toes.

HappiCamper · 19/12/2022 20:19

Icebreaker merino.

Shallistayorshalligo · 19/12/2022 20:26

Him😍 Dis cost us £1200 and he is my first ever pedigree cat. He is amazing! I do get so many purrs, hugs and affection, it’s priceless 😅

A weighted blanket. Absolutely love snuggling into bed with it.

Shutthegatepeter · 19/12/2022 20:34

Bought DH a Rolex watch for his 40th birthday. The same model is now twice the price I paid 10 years ago. It will be passed down to DS one day, it most likely won’t ever loose it’s monetary value.

Bought a hot tub during the pandemic which is lovely but the electricity prices now are ridiculous, so we invested another £300 in a gas powered water heater, and we are now able to run the hot tub for less than £1 a day.

MrsRinaDecker · 19/12/2022 20:35

Adding to my previous post..
Snag leggings, thick fabric, no vpl, pockets(!) I bought two pairs and I live in them.
Glad to see the kenwood stand mixer mentioned as I just bought ds one for Christmas (he’s a teen and keen cook / baker).
Seconding the better cooker; I’ve had mine for three years and it still makes me happy every time I use the oven.

Shallistayorshalligo · 19/12/2022 20:35

Oh, and Kerastase! My hair is not great and I have never thought that something could change this. I thought that expensive hair products were just a waste of money. Until I have decided to give it a try. And OMG. I do have a healthy hair now😁

Olu123 · 19/12/2022 20:37

All my handbags 😊

missg00se · 19/12/2022 20:39

I had similar but for my ankle. Gave me my life back and even if I hadn’t been well insured it would have been worth every single penny.

thenightsky · 17/12/2022 20:27

A private hip replacement operation that uses a technique not available on the NHS.

I’m going to try this again having pressed the right button this time! Absolutely worth every penny to get your mobility back. I had similar for an ankle and honestly I can’t put a monetary value on what I’ve got from it.

Palaver1 · 19/12/2022 20:52

I love mine. Warm as toast.

I really couldn’t give a mink’s ass how it was made!
