I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

Couldn't agree more on the Joie 360 spin! I bloody love ours! She won't be in it much longer but we've well and truly got every penny out of it.

Proper tea leaves from Brew Co.
Several times a day completely worth the spend.

Brita water filters changed promptly, it does make a difference in a harder than hard water area.

Heinz beans.

Not expensive in the grand scheme of things, but are compared to own brands. Worth every penny.

I see your beans but I raise it to Batchelor's beans. I do like the Heinz but they have way more more liquid in the tin 😁

@Calphurnia88

I use the Chronologiste shampoo, mask and hair blow dry care. My hair gets oily and it's great at cleansing it without drying it out, makes it all soft and airy and smooth without weighing it down. I can blow dry my hair now without using straighteners to get the poof out of it. Wish I'd discovered it years ago.

My Mulberry slouchy handbag.

My Miele hoover (you really do get what you pay for).

My UGG slippers.

My Oodie.

I’ll second divorce, but also bins. I spent over £100 in 2008 on a brabantia and I fear it’s finally ready to be replaced.

Perhaps irrelevant to your situation, but did you know that you can buy the lids alone?

silentpool · 17/12/2022 23:17

Bed linen
My armchairs were expensive but are 17 years old and still going (with slipcovers)
Wool duvet
Custom fit teeshirts - I wear them more than anything, so cost per wear has been great.
My sustainably produced merino clothes - they look perfect after a lot of wear.
Skin laser for pigmentation and rosacea.
Good shoes

I'm not wealthy but I see value in getting a lot of use out of products (and enjoyment). I think it works out cheaper if you have less and use it more frequently.

I pretty much buy everything on sale and put money aside each month to have available at sale times.

A Canada goose coat - appallingly expensive but in freezing weather the best thing ever for staying warm. And it will last for ever.

Miele washing machine - mine has just died after 20 years faithful service. I feel like I’ve lost a friend.

Do you know what they do to animals to make those coats ?!

witchesbubblebath · 17/12/2022 23:31

Blundstone boots, although the first pair were faulty possibly due to the way they had been stored before purchase. Customer service were quite good and sent me a new pair after photos

Abcdefgh1234 · 17/12/2022 23:34

£10,000 engagement ring. Its been 10 years but always make me flutter everytime i see it on my finger. Its beautiful.

A new down duvet too plus a linen duvet cover.

Good quality knives

An expensive sofa built to traditional standards. Has already lasted around 18 years and still looks great. Might have a few cat scratches on one corner but you wouldn't know just by looking at it. It has already outlasted a Harvey's and a DFS sofa. Our Next snuggle sofa needed some upholstery work after just one year.

Where did you order the bespoke sofa from?

blueshoes · 17/12/2022 23:36

Any dental treatment, especially my crowns and dental implant.

blueshoes · 17/12/2022 23:38

Underfloor heating
Year long maternity leave for each dc (total about 10 months self-financed).

Individewl · 17/12/2022 23:42

Expensive extending rear facing car seats for each of my children, only for my MIL to throw one away!!! Not only that she replaced it with a cheap forward facing seat for my 3 year old to use in her car!! I’m now going to replace this with another expense extended rear facing car seat. Cannot put a price on my child’s safety IMO

Individewl · 17/12/2022 23:43

On a lighter note expensive herbal tea, I don’t drink alcohol and this is my treat ☺️

timtam23 · 17/12/2022 23:43

My folding bike. There's not much space at home so this fits into a tiny corner
Wool duvet
Merino wool thermal vests - gamechanging over the last few very cold weeks
Good waterproof but smart winter boots
My waterproof jacket, I splurged on a Goretex one and it's been brilliant

Divorce

Blinky21 · 17/12/2022 23:50

Totem bin, dualitt toaster, Cloud 9 hair straightners (way better than GHD in my opinion), meals in Michelin restaurants, we only do it once or twice a year as a treat but always worth the cost, nice hotels

Tubs11 · 17/12/2022 23:59

Robotic lawnmower, absolute game changer

Icanneverthinkofausername · 18/12/2022 00:00

I.V.F!! Worth every single penny. (Very aware how lucky I am)
And proper marmite.

LemonTreeSkies · 18/12/2022 00:00

Canada Goose uses wild coyote fur.
They have said 2022 is the last year they will be using real fur. I hope they stick by what they’ve said.
