To ask the bed in front to keep it down?

There's a baby in the bed opposite with their mum and dad

They are playing something really loud of their telly they've rented, or phones. I don't know which

Trouble is, it's not just loud. It's frightening me. It's a TV series I've seen bits of before and it frightened me/freaks me out

Would I be unreasonable to ask a nurse to get them to keep it down?

It's just my baby daughter on the ward with me, otherwise. No other patients

AIBU? Blush

Jeez selfish fuckers, tell them to turn it down or get headphones

lgcoopers · 16/12/2022 16:02

@Devoutspoken thank you, I really struggle with negative confrontation like this but it's getting me worked up

I'd ask the nurse to ask the father to leave.

ChessieDarling · 16/12/2022 16:05

Speak to a member of staff and ask that they’re told to keep it down. People can be so bloody selfish!

lynthesearesexpeople · 16/12/2022 16:09

Some people are so bloody inconsiderate.

Yes, get a nurse to tell them to pack it in.

lgcoopers · 16/12/2022 16:10

Thank you, nurse has just asked them to and they seem to have turned the volume up Confused

Otherwise a very normal looking, average and quiet family

Not sure why they're doing that

I'd ask the nurse to ask the father to leave.

If it's a paediatric ward not a postnatal ward, you can't do that. Unfortunately he has the right to be there.

I am a grown adult but I'm allowed to be scared!

YANBU.

Overthebow · 16/12/2022 16:20

YANBU it’s so inconsiderate of them. What’s with people at the moment watching films, playing games, listening to music without headphones?

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 16/12/2022 16:22

I doubt I'd be able to contain myself "This is a bloody hospital ward not a sodding cinema."

Some people are just utterly fucking selfish!

girlmom21 · 16/12/2022 16:25

Ask the nurse to speak to them again. Explain how it's making you feel and ask if, alternatively, you can be moved.

ChessieDarling · 16/12/2022 16:25

dickheads. Speak to the nurse again.
Also, being nosey, what series is it? 👀

Badgirlriri · 16/12/2022 16:28

what does everyone think “the nurse” can do?!

Ultimately she’ll just get abuse and ignored.

Staff have no authority anymore.

If they're abusive there's action that can be taken. As it is, there's no suggestion of that .

They haven't said anything at all abusive. They're really quiet

Just focus on the needs of your sick child. Remember they are the patient not you.

YellowTreeHouse · 16/12/2022 16:37

They are being inconsiderate yes, but you are a grown adult and while you are “allowed” to be scared, you need to pull up your big girl pants and deal with it.

lgcoopers · 16/12/2022 16:38

@2bazookas she's sleeping!

Play something equally loud on your own device.

Agree.
Don't mention being scared if makes you seem unreasonable when actually needing them to turn it down is not.

Security have authority.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/12/2022 16:41

The nurse can ask them to turn it down or use headphones. But not much else they can do. I wouldn't threaten with security for being to loud.
