To ask what hobbies people have?

I’m a 27yo woman that does absolutely nothing for myself 🤦🏼‍♀️. I have a DS(2) & I work long hours as a nurse but I just feel like I don’t do anything in my free time. Me & DP were talking about Christmas presents & he said I’m so hard to buy for because I don’t have many interests which he’s right about. Could I ask what people do as hobbies or just for themselves?

Reading, going to the theatre and cinema, visiting wildlife reserves, playing board games, crochet, gardening, exercise, cooking new things, learning new stuff (like weekend workshops or going to guest lectures), my pets, sewing (badly), singing (even worse), building a wildlife garden, quiz nights…

I find most stuff pretty interesting.

I knit, crochet, sew or read. I also like going swimming with my waterproof mp3 player, I love cranking the music high and just swimming back and forth and putting everything out of my mind.

squashyhat · 11/12/2022 14:18

Yoga, pilates, book club, gardening, cinema and a couple of volunteering gigs.

Newmama29 · 11/12/2022 14:18

These are all great suggestions. I suppose I’m a bit of a start & give up person 🤣. I started knitting during lockdown when I was pregnant but I wasn’t great at it so gave it up. I love a jigsaw but not sure where to set one up in the house 🤦🏼‍♀️. I read every night, that’s one hobby I do have I suppose lol. Between working & looking after DS I don’t have much free time to do much activities out the house that don’t involve my DS. My DP works away & the shift pattern is erratic so it’s hard to join any clubs or anything as I can’t commit due to that & my work schedule 🤦🏼‍♀️

WinterLobelia · 11/12/2022 14:21

I belong to a book club.
I also belong to a choir but I don't enjoy it that much. I'd rather just get together for coffee and a gossip
I love to travel- slightly curtailed lately for obvious reasons
I read alot of history
I love trying out new recipes

Stompythedinosaur · 11/12/2022 14:22

Historical fencing. It is a lot of fun, and I've met some lovely people.

Balaya · 11/12/2022 14:24

Cinema and theatre, usually on my own so I can absolutely please myself. Not helpful for gifting tho.

Various outdoor pursuits so always happy to get decent gloves socks, hats, etc.

ShadowNight · 11/12/2022 14:24

Crochet, knitting, reading, going to the gym and puzzle books and cryptic crosswords.
