I love really good pop songs, by that I am not talking about lyrics, singing ability, deep relevance in terms of zeitgeist, I mean you hear it, you sing it, you want to hear it again. It makes you happy when it comes on.
Other Contenders for me are;
Love Sex Magic- Ciara
Sweet Dreams my LA ex- Rachel Stevens
Candy- Robbie Williams

I mean they're not up there with the White Album and Rumours but they're perfect examples of the genre.

I judge a good pop song on how it sounds years later.

I didn’t like Girls Aloud, Spice Girls, Take That at the time they were popular (in fact, I didn’t like pop music after my 80s childhood (I was far too cool ).

But years later I love a bit of GA. No Good Advice, Speak French and Untouchable are great pop songs. I think Cathy Dennis wrote for them - very good pop writer (think she wrote Britney’s ‘Toxic’, too?).

I would’ve cringed at these songs when they were released, but in my 40s I can recognise a well written pop song.
