I love really good pop songs, by that I am not talking about lyrics, singing ability, deep relevance in terms of zeitgeist, I mean you hear it, you sing it, you want to hear it again. It makes you happy when it comes on.
Other Contenders for me are;
Love Sex Magic- Ciara
Sweet Dreams my LA ex- Rachel Stevens
Candy- Robbie Williams

I mean they're not up there with the White Album and Rumours but they're perfect examples of the genre.

Not pop, but Everlong by Foo Fighters is the best song ever! Bit sad to watch those Girls Aloud videos, seeing Sarah Harding so vibrant and young, poor girl 😥

There are so many amazing pop songs. Girls Aloud wouldn't be in my top 100.

There was actually a scientific study by a German university into the perfect pop song and the winner was Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da by the Beatles. The other 2 in the top 3 were Red Red Wine (UB40) and There She Goes (The La's).

This is where trusting the science gets you, kids. Don't do it!

I agree with Biology and Spice Up Your Life but if we're going S Club 7 then for me it's got to be Don't Stop Moving.

And I'd like to nominate Tonight by NKOTB. It's hardly ever played these days but it's great, honestly!

(You Drive Me) Crazy by Britney Spears is better than Baby.

Biology is a belter, a far better song than The Promise, although my very favourite GA song is The Loving Kind (which I recently found out was written by the Pet Shop Boys, so that makes sense).

In terms of all time perfect pop songs I think I Want You Back by The Jackson 5 is hard to beat.

I thought the waking primrose bit referred to Primrose Hill.

I'm not sure I'd classify that as a pop song. A pop song should last around 3 mins and be insanely catchy. Baker Street is something different.

I've just watched the official video on youtube and the amount of comments underneath saying it was their mum's/brother's/pal's favourite song and so they played it at their funeral is giving me all the feels.

I love The Promise and all things Girls Aloud, but agree with PPs that Biology is a better contender for most perfect pop song. Call The Shots, Untouchable and Memory Of You are up there too.
