AIBU TO BE FLOORED BY CONCERT TICKET PRICES??

I'm looking for a concert to take my DD (6) and her cousin a similar age to.. something like Justin Beiber or Taylor Swift.. or anyone who has a large enough following for an arena show and age appropriate.

At this age a good show with high end production, lights etc will be so much fun for them.

We both love Billy Eilish - that was £400 a ticket last year. I took my DD to Little Mix last year at a reasonable £66 per ticket...

Beiber is £140 per ticket for the cheapest seats... how do people go to these concerts any more?

I thought £66 was a little steep for LM!

I'm really not paying £420 to go to Beiber with two under 7s!

Guess it's either a west end type (Lion King etc) production or Disney arena show? Any other ideas OPs?

Well Taylor Swift will fill a stadium, rather than an arena, so tickets will be v expensive.

Everything costs a lot now but you'd be better off looking at smaller arena events, or for theatre then you'd be better off with local productions.

We have paid £££££ for tickets to see Bruce Springsteen next year. No Christmas or birthday presents for either of us for a while. I think it could be his last tour so couldn’t miss it.

Reugny · 08/12/2022 19:36

Artists are only guaranteed to make money by having concerts and filling all the dates. So unfortunately ticket prices have gone up a lot in the last 15 or so years.

Fools and their money, OP, and the others that have responded...

AppleKatie · 08/12/2022 19:37

Don’t look at lion king prices unless you’re sitting down OP

Singlebutmarried · 08/12/2022 19:38

Paid £100 for Bruce Springsteen next year, GnR have just released dates, as have RCHP.

I want to go to them all, but am also doing Download for 5 days next year.

Waaaahhhhhh.

FunctionalSkills · 08/12/2022 19:38

We want to see some London shows but when 45 x 4 buys you the literal back row... its way out of reach!

Danikm151 · 08/12/2022 19:38

Pink was going at over £100 a ticket and then later in the day over £300. I couldn’t justify it at all!
it is horrendous how much they charge now but there will be people that pay it

name78change · 08/12/2022 19:38

I paid about £100 for my Billie Eilish tickets? (2, so £50 each)

underneaththeash · 08/12/2022 19:39

I can't believe you took a 6yo to a concert!

Quveas · 08/12/2022 19:40

You aren't being unreasonable.

Try ABBA.

Fourfurrymonsters · 08/12/2022 19:41

I’ve paid around £75 a ticket for Muse next year, but the effort and production that they put into their shows (I’ve already seen them a few times) makes them worth every penny. I actually think they’re fairly reasonably priced compared to many other bands these days. I’m not sure I’d be paying over £100 for anything tbh.

gabsdot45 · 08/12/2022 19:42

Imo bringing a 6 year old to a concert is a waste of money and will potentially be a stressful experience. They're noisy and crowded.
They'll probably enjoy a local theatre panto or the circus or something like that much better.

user1634987 · 08/12/2022 19:43

Some artists tickets are supply and demand prices, some are fixed, best to check before you buy so you don't get a nasty shock. All the ones I have bought have been fixed price, usually between about £80 and £150 each

FrogsHiccups · 08/12/2022 19:43

Ticketmaster have recently introduced a “dynamic pricing strategy” which alters the prices of tickets based on demand. To stop ticket touts, apparently 🤨

EatYourVegetables · 08/12/2022 19:44

Justin Bieber for a 6 yo???? 😂😂😂

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 08/12/2022 19:44

Not sure Burberry/swift is age appropriate for 6 year olds either!

noideabutstilltrying · 08/12/2022 19:44

It is crazy how much tickets are.

4 tickets for Liam Gallagher in the summer cost a weeks wages.

All the shows are now on sale for next year.

Being near Christmas I can't justify the cost

Waste of money - his voice has gone - you only have to look on youtube.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 08/12/2022 19:44

*Bieber!!!

Bumgh · 08/12/2022 19:44

How about get some fucking taste. Yard act tickets £22.50, billynomates £17.50, the chats £20. All infinitely better than taylor fucking swift. Your children will thank you

Muse is a show in itself! Definitely worth more than a normal gig!

Waxxy · 08/12/2022 19:47

This is why I do festivals. My favourite festival is £250 a ticket, £40 for my 4yo. See loads of amazing artists over 3.5 days and can pay in monthly installments. Ticket prices are crazy for a 2 hour concert now.

People like different things. Her kids are probably not going to want to go to a concert of someone they've not heard of.

user1634987 · 08/12/2022 19:48

I wouldn't be taking a 6 year old though, waste of money
