AIBU TO BE FLOORED BY CONCERT TICKET PRICES??

I'm looking for a concert to take my DD (6) and her cousin a similar age to.. something like Justin Beiber or Taylor Swift.. or anyone who has a large enough following for an arena show and age appropriate.

At this age a good show with high end production, lights etc will be so much fun for them.

We both love Billy Eilish - that was £400 a ticket last year. I took my DD to Little Mix last year at a reasonable £66 per ticket...

Beiber is £140 per ticket for the cheapest seats... how do people go to these concerts any more?

I thought £66 was a little steep for LM!

I'm really not paying £420 to go to Beiber with two under 7s!

Guess it's either a west end type (Lion King etc) production or Disney arena show? Any other ideas OPs?

Cripes dd is desperate to see Taylor Swift but I was counting on tickets being around £100. I couldn't manage if they are £400 !!

Well that’s all a bit up on the air, given she’s still not announced anything but American dates and how that sale went...

But originally they were supposed to be starting at under 100. Reputation’s £400 tickets (before resales) were the pit ones, I had floor seats just behind the pit for £130 and ones in the stands were definitely under 100. Unless ticketmaster do weird things again then I can’t see them being much more as it’ll be similar venues.

@tabulahrasa ah thank you that is exactly what dd told me! So seems she knows her stuff ! Fingers crossed then. It would be handy if they didn't sell UK tickets until spring given Christmas and also I'm currently on strike.... 🙏🏻

@tabulahrasa did you have a good view with floor seats? Would you recommend over the stands ? Is the pit lower? (Sorry to digress!)

Ticketmaster have recently introduced a “dynamic pricing strategy” which alters the prices of tickets based on demand. To stop ticket touts, apparently 🤨

Yes, I think this is disgusting ! I do not know how it is legal and allowed.

I was 60,000 th in the queue last week for tickets so had no chance as prices were so steep.

artists can opt out of this tactic apparently - So I judge any Artist scammer who doesn’t, assuming they profit from increase revenue of sales too.

The pit is standing right in front of the stage, so same level as floor seats, just a bit closer and obviously standing not seats.

The front floor seats absolutely definitely better than the stands, don’t know that there’d be much difference between the back of the floor seating and the bottom stand tbh.

But, even the very top stand seats... she moves round the stadium, so you’ll get a good view at some point, there’s other stuff going on all the time too (huge snake for reputation) fire, fireworks - and she’s done yon light up bracelets that synch up for the last two tours.

So even the cheapest seats aren’t terrible.

In 82/83 I saw Culture Club at Leicester Polytechnic. The tickets were £1.75! 😂

I saw them similar time at the Odeon in Birmingham . I don't know how much I paid though . I wonder how prices translate between the 80s and now? On the back of this thread I looked at the Bruce Springsteen tickets for next summer (didn't know he was touring). What I assume is resale tickets are now going for £400+ for villa park. I saw him there late 80s - I would love to know what I paid but have no idea .

I can't believe you took a 6yo to a concert!

Whaaaaat? plenty of 6 year olds at Glastonbury!

DD’s first non-orchestral concert was Bjork at the Eden Project age 7. Since then we’ve seen P!nk, Stereophonics and the Taylor Hawkins memorial this summer. (Won’t tell you what those tickets cost!). We’re doing P!nk again at Hyde Park.

I’m from a family of musicians though so value these sorts of things above other things. There are many musical idols that have died before I got chance to see them live so I’ll keep taking DD to see hers as often as I can. It’s pure joy.

(Luckily, she’s not into the likes of Harry Styles or Bieber.)

It’s just cost me £110 each for theatre tickets for DH’s birthday. What price culture. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We have paid £££££ for tickets to see Bruce Springsteen next year. No Christmas or birthday presents for either of us for a while. I think it could be his last tour so couldn’t miss it.

Same here, although DH isn't a fan so it's my Christmas and birthday presents for the rest of my life! Where are you seeing him? We're going to Villa Park.

Pottedpalm · 12/12/2022 17:31

Villa Park too. We saw him at Coventry last ime.

Worth it!

We saw him at Wembley last time, he was brilliant. The only other artist I'd pay a lot to see now is Billy Joel
