They sent me a tea towel in the post today. I didn’t ask them too. I neither need or want it. It’s cotton, made in China and is hand wash only. I went on twitter to enquire as to the ethical sourcing of it and whether I could return it to store and they wanted photos? How many tea towel mail shots are they sending that they need a photo? I try to shop ethically and only buy what I need, this got me so cross today!

Who wants a second-hand promotional tea towel? How could you possibly ‘regift’ that?

Going on holiday doesn’t mean you can’t be pissed off at unnecessary waste. I’m assuming you recycle?

My 86 year old aunt would bloomin love it!!

Feef83 · 04/12/2022 12:41

i don’t mean wrap it up and present it with flourish as present of the year.

I mean hand it over if you someone would use it, otherwise charity and they’ll tag it for 20p!

Who would pay 20p for a free teatowel? Its unnecessary conglomerate shite, I can’t believe people are talking about it like it’s some kind of prize!

Feef83 · 04/12/2022 12:43

I try so hard to minimise my impact and waste.

well you sure as heck wouldn’t have enjoyed the All inclusive to Turkey that you were seriously considering booking this year and asking for posters thoughts! 😂

Imagine loving a free teatowel as much as a holiday. That’s incredibly sad.

FlissyPaps · 04/12/2022 12:44

For God’s sake OP this is the biggest load of sh*t I’ve ever read.

Don’t like it … donate it to a charity shop, soup kitchen, homeless shelter, women’s refuge, food bank.

It sounds like a one off/error. Get a bloody grip and go and do something useful.

You’d be surprised!! Having volunteered in a local charity, you’ll get, for example you’ll get someone on the other side of 70 asking whether we have anything that could be used in the shed to wipe down the windows , are a towel specifically for dirty hands post gardening.

I’ve worked in a charity shop - it’s landfill. What a weird world you live in where people would be delighted to pay for someone else’s free tea towel to solve a problem they could have solved at home.

Pumperthepumper · 04/12/2022 12:49

Feef, you didn’t say if you recycle or not?

AnchorWHAT · 04/12/2022 12:53

I like the idea of using it as gift wrap, i try not to buy wrapping paper anymore so this would be great and useful too. I use the free papers and free christmas promotion papers and magazines and although it sounds awful all the colours etc look really good when all in a pile under the tree, plus it gives you something to read while family peeps are taking ages opening presents 😁

Pumperthepumper · 04/12/2022 12:49

Feef, you didn’t say if you recycle or not?

Didn’t know if relevant as I have made no claim either way re my green credentials!

Yeah sure I recycle. Have I been known to bin rather than recycle by coffee capsules… hell yeah. Do I buy a plastic water bottle in the summer if caught short without my usual water bottle… hell yeah.

But seeing as I didn’t make any comment on “greenness”, I can only presume, you are just interested? 😂

One chap came in asking if we had a fork.

One fork.

We did. 5p

Made his day

wonderstuff · 04/12/2022 12:58

@Feef83 do you ever go on holiday? You seem quite outraged by the idea?

I do it all!! Drive, holiday, got an iPhone.

but I didn’t start a thread waxing lyrical about my dedication to the environment and commitment to limiting my footprint, did I?!

No, but you are consistently berating the OP for doing exactly the same as you.

RoachPussy · 04/12/2022 13:55

If this is your biggest problem you’re doing ok.
