Were couple in M&S queue cunty fuckers?

DeeofDenmark · 02/12/2022 15:12

Really busy in M&S today, I just had a couple of items to buy. I glanced down the queues and picked the one that looked quickest. There was a big shop on the belt but only one person queuing with one item in her hand.
Just as there was room for her to put her item on the belt her partner turned up with a trolley. I’m not exaggerating to say this trolley was loaded as high as it was possible to load it.
So Aibu to think it is not ok to hold a place in a queue like this?

Very inconsiderate and disrespectful
I would teach them a lesson by tutting and raising my eyes

AND? 😲 at the same time. Both scary and skilful, bet they wouldn't do it again!

pecanpie24 · 03/12/2022 18:17

Yes OP, They should've let you go first. We always do it someone behind us has far less. They are cunty!

This happened to me once in Tesco. I was almost at the till and a bloke dived in in front of me with no shopping whatsoever and started beckoning over his wife who was at the other end of the shop. I said "excuse me please, can I just put my shopping on the belt". He said "my wife is just coming ". I said, well she's not here and I am" and started to put my shopping out. He proceeded to glare at me and then moved to the next till slagging me off to his wife when she arrived! Cheeky bastard! Since when do you save a place in a till queue!

Well done! Please everyone do this!

Could you just ask them to let you go first? It would not do any (more) harm. People should talk rather than "look pointedly".

I am really passive about stuff like this and usually too shy to say anything.

We were at a zoo a few years ago and nearly all the restaurants/eateries were closed due to covid meaning the ones that were open were absolutely rammed. We had been in a queue for crap food for about 45 min when some CFs turned up and pushed in. After a few minutes of outraged whispering and lots of passive aggressive glares from me and teen daughter they suddely noticed they had barged in and moved. It was great😂

You might benefit from some sort of self-awareness course? Or critical thinking book? Maybe just spend some time thinking about how other people are different from you? I do think it must be hard for you to walk through life being so easily confused. Mumsnet is for everyone and it is a good opportunity for you to think about things outside your world, but there are many ways to widen your experience. Good luck!

😂

I think this is professional level Cunty Fuckery but I bet others will think it’s nothing 🤷‍♀️

I concur. It’s bloody genius.

Really annoying. If she was waiting for someone to bring the bulk of her shopping, then she should have waved you through.

I was similarly fucked off yesterday at a store that had two registers but just one queue with about 3 people in it. I joined behind as seemed very obviously that both registers would call people from the central queue as they became free. I’d look like a pushy arsehole if I tried to start queuing directly in front of either register instead.

Of course when the queue got to me being the next to go to a register, someone started lining up in front of the one slightly further away from the central queue. I said oh the line is behind me, but he just blanked me and the bloody useless cashier waved him over.

Fuckface, I thought, but stayed waiting as surely I was next at the other register. Nope! The two women there decided to start querying the price of everything scanned, and had selected display items so needed to wait for the boxed one to be brought over. Meanwhile others were lining up in the fake queue, and 3 of these newcomers were checked out while these women held up their register. I should have just started my own line to begin with!

Oh I massively sympathise with this, I’ve been done over on the one queue suddenly turning into two thing as well. It’s completely infuriating.

skull66 · 03/12/2022 18:34

I'm 6'4" and fairly broad, I tend to get loudly indignant when a/holes pull that stunt on me.

eastegg · 03/12/2022 18:38

Re the OP, while I sympathise, I think looking pointedly was a poor reaction. A massive full trolley shows up after you’ve joined the queue with 2 items and goes in front of you? Why on earth wouldn’t you simply ask nicely ‘do you mind if I go first?’.

I am so f’ing sick of this passive aggressiveswhite! Got something to say pal? Say it.

I was just reading through to see whether anyone else thought this, or if it was just me. Thank God it's not just me.

Greenpolkadot · 03/12/2022 18:39

Iv seen two elderly women arguing over the turkeys in MS. Despite there being loads for sale, they both wanted the same one. Also in MS saw a woman let out a wild banshee type scream and throw a Christmas cake on the floor while in the till queue.

I'm agreeing with another poster, the menopause made me super gobby and wouldn't put up with any cheeky fuckery queueing slight of hand shenanigans

Honestly? If you're gracious, it will be repaid. It's called Karma.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 03/12/2022 18:45

A person in the queue with big trolley and dc /dp turns up with one of two more items fair enough this way round it a naah from me.

I'm totally baffled by this thread. I cannot see the issue in the slightest. Maybe the husband forgot dog food and ran to pick it up whilst wife waited in the queue, you know because why on earth would they lose their place in the queue to go get one item?

Strange thread. Stranger responses. If this actually bothers people to the point they throw tantrums and the like, I can't fathom how they cope with day to day life.

If he’d forgotten one item and ran to pick it up he wouldn’t take the trolley with him, so you’re wrong there. Full trolley would stay at till, while person runs to get the one item. And I can 100% guarantee that if it had happened that way round the OP wouldn’t be on here complaining about it.

Clearly he was finishing the shop while she saved a place. And that had the effect of luring the OP to the wrong queue.

You’re baffled because you haven’t read it and understood it properly.

Pants0nFir3 · 03/12/2022 18:47

Nice to know in times of a cost of living crisis that they're able to fill 2 fucking shopping trolleys- at M&S for fucks sake. Bet most of that food will be wasted and thrown away 😟

Moorethemerrier · 03/12/2022 18:51

Yes! Absolutely trash behaviours!
I remember when I was a kid my dad having a full blown row in Costco. He queued behind a woman who unbeknownst to him has her husband with another loaded trolly on the queue next door. when she got to the front first the husband left his queue and tried to push in my front of my dad. It’s was hugely embarrassing at the time as my dad is very vocal but also now as a adult I see why he was so furious at the CF behaviour!

Zazazoolly · 03/12/2022 18:57

Me too

sotongirl1 · 03/12/2022 19:06

I would insist on two separate shops for them, the second trolley has turned up after, you have put your stuff on the belt, so deal with it

startfresh · 03/12/2022 19:08

Not long ago a man with a full trolley was ahead of me with my three items.

When he realises I was communicating with my husband who was outside, he said "oh is that all you have, go ahead of me, I thought your partner was going to come round the corner with a trolley full"

I wasn't expecting a queue jump but it was lovely. I didn't know why he thought that but I get it now.

Canthave2manycats · 03/12/2022 19:08

I appear to be invisible, particularly in bars, maybe because I am a shortarse. I absolutely loathe supermarket shopping, even more since Covid, so I avoid it as much as I can.

However in your shoes OP, I'd have gone to the self-service. They have humans there too to authorise alcohol sales etc. As it's 3 weeks or something mad away from Christmas, everywhere is likely to be busy, and the CFs will be out in force.

Canthave2manycats · 03/12/2022 19:09

PS don't Marksies have tills for baskets only?

Not everyone is struggling. Are they meant to pretend to be to make others feel better?

🙄How do you know it will be wasted? Maybe they're having guests over? Or a party?

Difficult to cope with people who cant read the post and comment on something completely opposite than what was written.
