The Jeremy Kyle Show. Middle class man shouts at poor people who aren’t terribly bright, for not being perfect humans. So pleased it ended.

On X Factor and BGT when they used to show ‘funny’ auditions of people who believed they had talent but really didn’t so got laughed at. They then brought them back for the final to do a humiliating routine live so they could be laughed at more.

Supernanny. Childless woman who can barely speak properly pulls lemon faces, tells parents they’re shit and Instills sudden and sharp changes in the child’s home where actual camera are focussing on them when they’re distraught and upset

Sun sea and suspicious parents. Mum and dad spying on their adult children from a rooftop in Greece whilst said child gets off with a stranger. CREEPY!

The level of blatant and accepted racism in modern day Britain. And I don't mean exclusively against dark skinned people of Asian and African ethnicity.

marktayloruk · 04/12/2022 09:59

What about pantomime dames?

'the vast majority of drag queens are queer men, facing backlash every day for living life how they choose to. Educate yourself on the oppression they face. They don’t just automatically hold power over you because they’re men'

the gay men I know and work with are certainly not oppressed.

Benjispruce4 · 04/12/2022 14:51

I hate drag acts. Don’t know why it’s acceptable.

Thelnebriati · 04/12/2022 15:00

the vast majority of drag queens are queer men, facing backlash every day for living life how they choose to. Educate yourself on the oppression they face.

They act out a parody of women; meanwhile actual women face problems that only exist based on their sex.

Can you not see how offensive it is for members of the class that causes the problems to parody the class on the receiving end? And then to turn around and complain they are oppressed as a result of their own behaviour?

The long blonde hair, large pouty lip look will be the equivalent of the mullet and big hair fashion of the eighties.

Who cares? Every generation laughs about how they looked when young.

I think I'd include eyebrows in this too. A lot of women will look back at photos years from now and regret their eyebrows.

Benjispruce4 · 04/12/2022 15:12

Yes as we laugh at 1960s barely there, drawn in eyebrows now.

I had no idea Jo Frost was working class and don’t care - I dislike her because she is part of a programme that exploits vulnerable children for entertainment. If she spoke like the Queen and came from landed gentry I’d think exactly the same

I remember many a late Saturday night trying to sleep, alongside my sister, in the back of my dad's cortina. Both parents would be half cut from a house party but there was no drink and drive limit in the 70s/80s. We never had an accident in all those years which was a blooming miracle. All my family smoked as well (talking 70 a day) in spite of my own mild and my cousin's severe asthma. And being doused in after sun because I burned every holiday, mum said I needed to get some colour in my face...just finished treatment of a first basal cell carcinoma 🙄

There definitely were drink/drive limits in the 70s and 80s, it wasn’t the blooming dark ages!

But yes to the rest of your post ☹️

As a primary-aged child, my grandparents, aunts and uncles would chain smoke whilst in the car with me or in the same room as me!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/12/2022 19:08

Ohhh yes - both my parents smoked when I was a child, and always smoked around us, at home and in the car. Dad eventually quit, but mum still smokes like a chimney. I remember, as a teenager, asking her not to smoke in the car because it made me car sick, and she refused!

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 04/12/2022 19:13

@BaddogGooddoggy it feels like the dark ages compared to now! My mistake. As a child, I genuinely never heard any adults talk about drink driving or drink limits! My dad also considered himself to be a good driver 😂🙈

ShrimpIsTheFruitOfTheOcean · 04/12/2022 19:20

I grew up in pubs. My classmates would complain that I stank of beer and fags. My mum was a very selfish smoker. We would complain that our eyes were sore and the smoke would get in our throats. But she didn't give a shit.

whynotwhatknot · 04/12/2022 21:30

LondonWolf · 04/12/2022 21:39

My ds is almost 20. He has autism and the way he was treated in various mainstream schools absolutely beggars belief looking back now. The rudeness, eye rolling and disbelief from teaching staff, the suggestions he go into a PRU, the physical restraint, which left him covered in abrasions and bruises daily. I have a younger child, also has autism and her school experiences have been the polar opposite. There's only 3 and a half years between them but huge leaps in understanding and education around autism seemed to happen over the last decade. Too late for my ds though Sad

Quite happy to say it about Naked attraction now

Yes I agree! What is the world coming to, showing my age I think!

pecanpie24 · 05/12/2022 01:11

I think that the world as it is today is bonkers. Drag queen TV shows, Naked Attraction, Made in Chelsea all of that complete and utter crap.
