To refuse to take DD to the cinema to see this film

Because I don’t want to see it. DD is absolutely dying to see the new Matilda the Musical film but none of her friends also want to see and she doesn’t want to go alone so she’s begging me to go with her but I don’t really want to see the film to be honest. DD is 16. I know why she really wants to see it, because years ago she played Matilda in the west end musical show.

Am I being unreasonable?

Your teenager wants to leave the house with you and not just for a lift! That’s so rare take her and enjoy her company whilst she’s willing.

I can't begin to list the utter shit I've seen on the cinema because my kids wanted to see it. Including the emoji movie.

God that was definitely a low point. What was the other one, Space Jam or something? Dreadful!

Your poor dd having a braggy mum who can’t be arsed to spend an evening with her own daughter.

Glad you enjoyed it - I am going with DD (17) this week - hopefully will be good - tickets are £18 each!

Do you think I wanted to see Sing 2 OP?! Go with her, enjoy her enjoying herself. Go for dinner/coffee first, make the most of spending time with her

@TheOrigRights you're right it was, but I didn't want to go to see it and if I'd let that stop me I would've missed the brilliance

Glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to take dd1 to see it as she is desperate to see it but she wants her dad to go with her instead. It's my favourite childhood book.

Well done for letting your DD drag you to a film and glad you enjoyed it! I remember being reluctant to go to Zootropolis with DS, but it turned out to be bags of fun. Didn't enjoy The Woman In Black which he also took me to, but he admitted it wasn't as good as he'd expected. He's normally good at working out what won't work for me and drags his dad to those ones.

You who suffered from going to the Care Bears movie only once had it good. My lot had the video and played it frequently. I've got pretty much the entire script carved into my brain, songs and all. I think "Grams Bear" was the lowest point but there were a few.
