Shamima Begum's mother

I read an article about Shamima Begum's mother in the Daily Mail. I am very much in the camp that Shamima Begum should come back to the UK and be trialed here as her crimes.

Anyway, the mother says how close she was with Shamima and how she misses her etc.

If I were Shamima Begum's mum and my daughter was not allowed into the UK, I would travel to the refugee camp to be with her. Or, I would take my daughter to Bangladesh just to be with her and not leave her on her own.

I don't understand why Shamima Begum's mum takes no action to support her daughter!

She doesn’t have any other ‘ children’ , they are all adults now.

I think this just another attempt to pluck the heartstrings of the unsuspecting British public and whip up some support for letting this self confessed murdering terrorist back into Britain.

This.

She wasn’t smuggled out of the country by anyone. She left Heathrow with two friends on her sister’s passport. Zero smuggling.

Yes I remember seeing photos of her and her two friends casually walking through an airport. Certainly no smuggling vibes.

I thought it was the Kenyan authorities that have issued a warrant for her arrest and if she ever turns up she'll be tried there?

Kenya had a warrant for her arrest around 2011, before the Westgate Mall bombing. Interpol issues a warrant sometime shortly after. she is largely presumed dead, but I have never heard speak of her British citizenship being stripped

one of her accomplices, Jermaine Grant is in prison in Kenya until 2025 ish. he is still referred to as a British citizen (fraudulently applied for Kenyan citizenship). I would imagine Kenya will want to deport him back to the UK when he is released. will be interesting to see what happens

Croque · 24/11/2022 19:18

She is extremely damaged from a young age. It would cost ££££s more than your average pub brawl one-off murderer to even begin to try to accommodate her. The risks are huge on all fronts. Ultimately, it just doesn't seem worth it.

The problem is both sides will want to harm her , Islamists and the far right. I'd say she definitely isn't safe here and the taxpayer would have to pay a huge amount to protect her.

That look a teenager has as the insert drugs into a body cavity to make their country lines boss happy. Pure bliss, they gonna get £50 and be so rich and be so cool.

MassiveSaladWithChristmasTrimmings · 24/11/2022 19:21

When I first heard that this last ditch ludicrous attempt to bring her back would be based on the outlandish claim that she was trafficked, I laughed.

I thought everyone with half a brain would laugh too. But no! It appears that her defence team were right to think that there were enough people with no wit who would swallow it , as proved by some on this thread.

I'm still laughing though and I hope the judge is too.

Maybe she thinks that whining to the DM is 'supporting' her terrorist child.

When you have finished laughing. Was Virginia Giuffre trafficked? Or was she just after a jet set life paid for by someone else and a bit pissed off when she did not marry a Prince?

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 24/11/2022 15:07

If she goes to Bangladesh they’d hang her. Her father has already washed his hands of her. So she won’t be going there. She wants to come back to soft touch Britain as she was ‘trafficked’ —my arse—

She was a teenager who was groomed on the internet and she made poor choices as a TEENAGE GIRL, not an adult
And then suffered years of abuse including sexual
Everyone can look back and remember the stupid decisions and dangerius situations they put themselves in as teenagers
I suspect if she was white english everyone would be singing a different tune

AH, so the teenage girls groomed by gangs in Rotherham and Rochdale knew right from wrong and deserved what they got? Many of them were 15 year olds. And were groomed. You cannot pick and choose which 15 year old groomed girls are victims and which ones are criminals.

And we currently have NO evidence that she has committed a crime. Rumour. Speculation. And the Daily Mail. But no court of law has found her guilty of anything. If the Syrians had evidence that she committed crimes, don't you think they'd have charged her?

This is exactly what I was thinking.
In a fair and just society the law has be applied evenly to all.

CaptainNelson · 24/11/2022 19:25

Basically she wasn't British enough, despite being born and raised here.

The Rotherham girls didn't choose to leave our safe, peaceful and tolerant country for one which was known - WIDELY known - to be unsafe for UK citizens, with the sole intention of joining a terorrist organisation which exists to destroy everything our country holds dear, including killing its citizens. Those Rotherham girls were groomed and that is disgusting behaviour of the men who did that to them in their vulnerable position, but in getting involved with those gangs the girls weren't sticking a finger up to democracy, our nation's safety and basically declaring that all UK citizens are their enemies. Once they were out of the situation, at 19, they didn't then say they didn't regret any of it, on national television, for all to see.

The 2 situations are incomparable. It is totally different. Many of the Rotherham girls were living in care and vulnerable, Begum actively chose to leave her family home and safe life to go to an enemy country. This is utterly uncomprehensible to any 15 year old.

She should not come back. Her mother and father should be ashamed that they allowed her extremist views to flourish under their care and watch.

FancyFanny · 24/11/2022 19:28

Virginia Giuffre? Hmmm! At 17 I find it hard to see her as an innocent child victim. More likely she enjoyed the glamorous lifestyle and a free ticket to ride.

Oh, so sorry!

I hadn't realised that Virgina Giuffre snuck off to marry men whom she had watched Beheading others on the internet and then joined the morality women's police when she was there.

Fancy. Why on earth weren't we told that she is no different to this terrorist.

I don't think Ms Giruffe would be pleased that you compare her to this murderous lump who said she had no regrets. Do you?

FiscalDragQueen · 24/11/2022 19:31

I see SB’s father had a lot to say on the subject. Interesting he lives in Bangladesh. Maybe if he had been present in her childhood, she wouldn’t have been such easy pickings for ISIS. He should blame himself rather than the British government.

I think she should be let back here, but put on trial when she gets here.

Croque · 24/11/2022 19:32

Neither of them were victims as far as I am concerned. SB;s mother also married when she was the same age. it was completely unremarkable within her culture. She may have been raised in London but she lived in a cultural ghetto and lived by a different set of norms to white British teenagers.

Booklover3 · 24/11/2022 19:33

I see both sides of the argument and I’m glad I didn’t have to make the choice. Damned if you let her back, damned if you don’t.

And despite holding Bangladeshi citizenship, they didn't want her either.

Zanatdy · 24/11/2022 19:34

I’d certainly question why she doesn’t encourage her daughter to go to Bangladesh and she could go too - but I don’t think Bangladesh want her either, so it’s not that easy. She’s a British citizen, not a bangleshi - well she was anyway. Not anymore

I think Ms Giruffe would cope. Who is to say which trafficked teenager is to blame and which is not?

Not you and not I, but a fair trial should be held and that trial's outcome should not be based on skin colour or social economic group.

MassiveSaladWithChristmasTrimmings · 24/11/2022 19:39

It's based on the fact that she belonged to iSIS.

Notthetoothfairy · 24/11/2022 19:39

AddingUp · 24/11/2022 14:56

I think it's a horrible place to be for a mum. But I can't imagine being away from my 15 year old and then having the option to travel to see her and not do it. Journalists and lawyers are travelling there.

I’m guessing you brought up your 15 year old (assuming you have one) better than that? It’s quite a low bar for a teen not to become a murderous terrorist and I think she should rightly lose the support of her mother as well as the U.K. 🤷‍♀️

CurlyhairedAssassin · 24/11/2022 19:40

No, I don't want her on trial here. It will cost this country far too much money . Honestly , I think that if you choose to leave the UK behind for an enemy country, , then you have burned your bridges and shouldn't be given the option to come back and cost the UK hundreds of thousands of pounds in doing so. Fuck off and stay fucked off, is what I feel. Maybe then people will have some respect for a safe, democratic and peaceful country and not want to risk giving that up.
