To finally want Scotland to now LEAVE the UK

Am looking at this new gender bill being debated in Scotland in shock and horror. I just think it is a barbaric attack on women's safety and rights plus kids safeguarding. What on earth is happening Scotland?

Men being allowed to identify as women with no medical assessment and after only 3 months of ‘living as a woman’ - whatever that means. Wearing high heels and lipstick? Certainly they will still have their tackle intact.

Then being able to enter our changing rooms and bathrooms, take our company board places and sports prizes, skew the gender pay gap data and crime data, give intimate care to our vulnerable disabled daughters and elderly mothers. No surprise which type of men will be attracted using this new law to identify as women. Let me spell it out - the violent depraved ones who want to access women and girls.

And voted through yesterday - allowing convicted male rapists to identify as women and enter womens prisons.

And on top of all this - lowering the age of transition from 18 to 16… where is this age lowering coming from I wonder….surely not something more sinister…

To top of off Scotland has deliberately ignored the Cass Report and NHS England on safeguarding teenagers and so is carrying on giving vulnerable teenagers irreversible puberty blockers and breast binders behind parents backs.

And the icing on the cake - when a woman dares to speak out and wear a scarf with the colours of the suffragettes - she gets thrown out of parliament. I feel Scotland has gone back 100 years.

I am scared now this Scottish loophole in law will enter the UK as a whole.

I don't think Scotland leaving the UK is the answer. We need to stand in solidarity with Scotland and be glad they have different laws over there, as opposed to saying 'sorry Scottish women, you're on your own now'. I agree though, it's awful.

Totally agree. "Fuck off Scottish women" isn't very feminist, is it?

BomboChipolata · 17/11/2022 11:35

I’m not firing any wrath at you, just shaking my head.

Daisychainsx · 17/11/2022 11:35

I'm scottish but don't live in Scotland and don't really keep up with politics at all. What is it, they're trying to pass a law that will make it OK to identify as whatever gender you like without medical assessment?

Don't people do that anyway?

Realistically, if someone wants to use a female/male changing room or toilet they're unlikely to be stopped. They certainly don't need to whip out a card that states whether they're medically xx or xy. Having a ♀️ sign on a door protects nobody from anything.

I do think women, especially young women just starting their periods etc, need a toilet space that is free from boys and men. But maybe in newbuilds we should just have individual changing rooms and toilet cubicles with no shared sink area and floor to ceiling doors, that can be used by anyone regardless of whether they identify as a man, woman or a mythical unicorn fairy.

Questionnaires and data collection forms could be adapted to ask 3 things 'sex at birth, current sex (ie has surgery happened), gender'.

Maybe there should be laws which state if you commit a crime that can only be committed by a man, such as rape with a penis, then you must serve any future time in a male prison regardless of gender identity. (Let's not forget there are female rapists too)

Instead of allowing trans athletes to blend in with single sex sports, celebrate them for being trans and have separate event for trans athletes at the Olympics or whatever.

Women should be celebrated for being women, men for being men, and trans women and men for being trans women and men.

I disagree with the changes in medical and scientific language such as erasing mother and replacing it for person with child or whatever it is... you can't change science. If you're a human carrying a fetus inside you then you're a mother.

I dunno what the answer is, but there was once a time people were revolted at the thought of black people sharing the same space as them and now we are horrified that humans could have been so cruel and closed minded, and I reckon in 50 years time people will probably look back on this and say the same thing... Society and the leaders of the world just need to do it in a way which allows everyone to feel respected.

@maddy68 thats great you feel safe and don’t mind if a boy takes your daughters sports prizes, board places and changes in front of her. But others do.

@CovertImage thing is. Scottish women keep voting this shitshow in. So yes it’s great to stand by women but not when they throw others eg the rest of the UK under a bus.

No. This is the Sexual Offences Act and what it says about rape. Women do not have penises so they cannot commit rape:

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/42/part/1/crossheading/rape

Sexual assault is different as it can be committed with an object:

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/42/part/1/crossheading/assault

BrokeAsABone · 17/11/2022 11:43

Please tell me I didn't read someone comparing prevention of men accessing spaces where women and girls are vulnerable and undressed, to segregation?

For goodness sake! Women and girls have been exploited and abused by men for millennia on the basis of our biology. That is why we NEED single sex spaces. To try to prevent, even in a little way, men exploiting and abusing us at times when we are most vulnerable!

Men will NEVER have our biology so they have absolutely no need of our spaces. They want in for awful, exploitative reasons - to intimidate, encroach, dominate and abuse - and it never fails to amaze that women are actually helping them!

NO. We say no and our no is not the starting point of negotiation.

Ndd135632 · 17/11/2022 11:45

@Daisychainsx you can’t make a parallel here with black and white sharing spaces! The vast vast majority of violence is from men on women. 98% of it. It’s a completely different thing. Black people don’t have some kind of biological strength over white people. There was zero reason why they shouldn’t share spaces. This is very very different.

Speechless.

There is NO comparison.

What society & women like Nicola Sturgeon is doing is respecting everyone except women. Welcome to the brave new world where everyone is respected so long as they are male.

It's mind blowing that you can't see this.

Ten years ago not one person had a problem with women having single sex spaces. Not one person! In fact, everyone knew it was entirely right and proper. Now because some loud, manipulative men decide they want access, people have lost their fucking minds and can't even appear to remember why we had them in the first place!

Somanysocks · 17/11/2022 11:53

Unfortunately I'm not surprised that men would throw women and children under the bus but other women doing so is appalling, including some posters here, should be ashamed.

I'm becoming more terfy as the days roll by.

You missed my question.

She also failed to comment on the fact that women are being sexually assaulted in prisons transwomen and that Scotland has stated that it has no intention to place dangerous transwomen in separate units.

Daisychainsx · 17/11/2022 12:27

@ResisterRex fair enough. I suppose it depends where you are in the world.. www.justice.gov/archives/opa/blog/updated-definition-rape
Clearly I watch too much American TV.

But in the context of the UK I stand corrected!

There's been a concerted effort in parts of academia for years, to change our definition to a different one. I used to just think that was bonkers (as well as wrong) but now I think it's sinister and being pushed on purpose.

I can't stop thinking about how racist I feel this is.

Imagine comparing the rights of males to consider themselves women, which is biologically completely impossible, with the right of a black person to be treated as equal.

It's also unnecessary as if a woman does commit a crime it is the sexual offence of penetration by assault which has the same sentencing guidelines as the offence of rape.

VitaminX · 17/11/2022 12:56

@Daisychainsx I don't want to be patronising, but you sound like you maybe find the issue a bit confusing and don't understand what all the fuss is about?

A lot of the things you said are very 'transphobic' under the new orthodoxy because it's obvious you recognise that transwomen are not literally women.

You're getting jumped on now by the 'other side' but to me it sounds like you just think there's a common sense solution that we can all get behind, without realising the extent to which common sense went right out of the window a long time ago.

Things like understanding the importance of toilets just for women and girls, acknowledgement of the fact that female humans who have given birth to a child are mothers, separate trans events in sports - these are sensible ideas that are now considered hateful and dangerous. Because the line is that transwomen are LITERALLY women, that the word 'woman' has no objective meaning or grounding in physical reality whatsoever. It's just an identity, a thought, a feeling.

Perhaps you want to be polite and kind and that is why you talk of things like 'current sex' as if getting surgery could change your sex. I recommend reading more around this issue because I don't think it would take much for you to see what so many other women have seen - there is no reasoning with the TWAW position, yes they do mean it literally, they will not accept compromise or debate or common sense, they have lost all touch with reality. That is why women have to say a strong, clear NO.

Agreed!

That was so racist too. Men is female spaces is not the same as black and white people mixing

healthadvice123 · 17/11/2022 16:37

@x2boys yes but your know they were male and personally a male nurse isn't an issue for me but for some people due to trauma it could be so getting a nurse who is a biological male could be very damaging for them

healthadvice123 · 17/11/2022 16:39

Age thing is huge at 16 your not allowed to drive , drink work more than a certain amount of hours etc etc yet can make a huge life changing decision , just wrong

healthadvice123 · 17/11/2022 16:45

@maddy68 what was the point of your post ? So you agree that anyone can change sex ? So a rape victim can be treated by a biological man even if they don't want a male nurse etc ? People can be whatever gender they want to define with but biological sex does nit change no matter what
Men competing in womens sport is not a level playing field or safe in sports like rugby
I have no issue with someone changing gender but not then being able to enter a sport as a female when in-fact biologically they are a male
Have a trans option if need be same for prisons but if your a victim of abuse do you want a male sharing a room with you ?

healthadvice123 · 17/11/2022 16:48

The thing is women who become trans men don't seem to be shouting so loud and getting the same coverage and spaces

healthadvice123 · 17/11/2022 16:50

@maddy68 so your happy for a convicted male rapist who raped a women to then identify as a female and be put in a female prison ? Maybe sharing a room with another female even?
