To finally want Scotland to now LEAVE the UK

Am looking at this new gender bill being debated in Scotland in shock and horror. I just think it is a barbaric attack on women's safety and rights plus kids safeguarding. What on earth is happening Scotland?

Men being allowed to identify as women with no medical assessment and after only 3 months of ‘living as a woman’ - whatever that means. Wearing high heels and lipstick? Certainly they will still have their tackle intact.

Then being able to enter our changing rooms and bathrooms, take our company board places and sports prizes, skew the gender pay gap data and crime data, give intimate care to our vulnerable disabled daughters and elderly mothers. No surprise which type of men will be attracted using this new law to identify as women. Let me spell it out - the violent depraved ones who want to access women and girls.

And voted through yesterday - allowing convicted male rapists to identify as women and enter womens prisons.

And on top of all this - lowering the age of transition from 18 to 16… where is this age lowering coming from I wonder….surely not something more sinister…

To top of off Scotland has deliberately ignored the Cass Report and NHS England on safeguarding teenagers and so is carrying on giving vulnerable teenagers irreversible puberty blockers and breast binders behind parents backs.

And the icing on the cake - when a woman dares to speak out and wear a scarf with the colours of the suffragettes - she gets thrown out of parliament. I feel Scotland has gone back 100 years.

I am scared now this Scottish loophole in law will enter the UK as a whole.

Nicola Sturgeon is mad and obsessed with her own agenda of an independent Scotland ruled by her.

The gender legal changes (which she is forcing through by threatening to sack her colleagues) are her way of splitting Scotland from England culturally, to bolster her argument that the two should be different countries. If she hadn’t picked gender ideology she’d be doing it with a different issue.

YABU for helping her do it. Your post is exactly the type of publicity she wants.

What about all the women and girls in Scotland? They deserve protection and support from England not abandoning to a mad bully.

But Scotland and England are already different countries!!

VinoDino · 17/11/2022 10:28

Can you please explain, in non-emotive terms, why wanting to protect sex-based legal rights is transphobic?

You'll never, ever get an answer to this. I, and many many others, have asked the various posters who pop up with statements like this and none have answered. Coherently anyway.

I’d be interested too.

Imagine thinking that it is transphobic to recognise that women are a sex class. 😳

What else is transphobic? Oh yeah, women's boundaries. And women's rights. And words about women. Women wearing scarves with women's rights colours on. And stick

FourTeaFallOut · 17/11/2022 10:34

...Stickers. And gay people who prefer their own sex And meeting in places to talk about things. And being concerned about gender fairy tales taught at school. And spaces that are for women and girls.

This rebranding of misogyny is on fire.

I'm Scottish & furious at how the SNP have destroyed Scotland. On the specific "gender" self ID horror you might want to look at sign this to give some protection to single sex spaces etc

www.mumsnet.com/talk/petitions_noticeboard/4668426-petition-update-the-equality-act-to-make-clear-the-characteristic-sex-is-biological-sex?page=1

Agree with this. Since Scotland does not have independence the GRR Bill have impact on women's spaces in the resit of the UK.

Transphobia in a nutshell.

FourTeaFallOut · 17/11/2022 10:38

Transphobia defined in this manner is a Trojan Horse filled with MRA bollocks

ResisterRex · 17/11/2022 10:38

I understand the mounting horror at the idea the bonfire of safeguards and decency could bleed into the rest of the UK but the women and children in Scotland need our help. Here are some other events:

NHS Scotland plans to ‘fast-track irreversible surgery for trans patients’

Women’s clinics could be renamed under new guidelines

Writing to your MP isn't futile. Write to them, tell them your concerns.

Ndd135632 · 17/11/2022 10:50

Just leave those calling wanting women and children to be safe and to protect our boundaries and sports prizes and scholarships and safe spaces - transphobic. Let them bleat on. It’s cheap talk and sinister. People see through the nonsense name calling now. We will NEVER get a coherent answer as to why wanting this is transphobic so leave them shouting into the abyss. And literally screaming abuse, naked, at women (see NYC this week).

Doesn’t even warrant a response.

It’s patriarchy back in a new guise. And some women seem to think it is kind to support it.

As a Scot in Scotland and supportive of the SNP in the past I would still vote for independence ironically to make the SNP redundant. The Scottish Parliament are wasting far too much time sweating the small stuff which takes away from big stuff. They have passed good laws such as free bus travel for under 22s and free Uni tuition but imo completely messed up education and need to drag the justice system into the 21st century.

It may be the same in the rUK but the majority of folk are just weary of political posturing, locally, nationally and internationally. I think the SNP are shooting them selves in the foot these days and I never thought I’d ever write that. Whilst I will never, ever vote Tory I do wonder where the political heavyweights are these days, especially in the Labour Party. Instead of knowing what someone stands for and voting accordingly, most politicians these days seem to change their stance to suit the crowd so you never know where they are at. Can’t be arsed with it anymore and that is sad. And dangerous because if someone like me who has always been politically opinionated is apathetic about it now, then there doesn’t seem much hope of engagement on a wider scale. SNP I hope you read this.

Yep.

’Hello misogyny, I didn’t recognise you in that new dress’

literally

BomboChipolata · 17/11/2022 11:07

YABU. This is insane to think this is a reason the break up the UK. I think the OP needs some perspective

lifeturnsonadime · 17/11/2022 11:09

It isn't transphobic to want women to have rights as a sex class.

It isn't transphobic to want male rapists and sex offenders who claim a gender identity to be refused access to women's prisons and the vulnerable women within them.

Trans people already have rights. They have the rights not to be discriminated against in housing, social care and employment. This is all in the Equality Act. They can lobby for safes that they feel safe if they don't feel comfortable using facilities of their sex class.

What they are asking for here is that women be uncomfortable and downright unsafe in certain circumstances (see rapists in prisons) they are asking for women to lose their rights. This is unreasonable. They don't care that what they are asking for impacts on vulnerable and minority women, such as those that have religious beliefs that prevent them from using mixed sex facilities (which is what gender based facilities are).

Equality and fairness is not removing the rights and women and girls and lowering the age of access to life long drugs and surgeries which mutilate and render children infertile.

Zosime · 17/11/2022 11:17

They have passed good laws such as free bus travel for under 22s and free Uni tuition

Free to users, but someone somewhere is paying for them.

maddy68 · 17/11/2022 11:22

ErrolTheDragon · 17/11/2022 10:19

Are you completely happy with rapists and other convicted sex offenders being able to self ID as a woman with no additional checks and balances?

Actually yes.

A rapist is a rapist no matter how they identify , sex offenders offend to men women and children. How they identify doesn't make a difference to their crimes the two are entirely separate. Offenders will make the most of every opportunity granted however there is so much hysteria and misinformation demonising men who just want to dress as females and women who want to dress as men and identify as such in their daily lives

Do you never Integrate with anyone of the opposite sex or do you want to live entirely separate existences ?

Personally I could give a flying fuck how anyone dresses or feels and there should be safe spaces for all

lifeturnsonadime · 17/11/2022 11:25

Accept women, women don't need safe spaces even in prison?

Merely wanting them is transphobic.

lifeturnsonadime · 17/11/2022 11:25

Sorry that should have said EXCEPT women.

Ndd135632 · 17/11/2022 11:26

@BomboChipolata I would fire your wrath in the direction of the SNP and the Green Party making these harmful laws rather than me

In prison anyone who self identified as a different sex to that of the prison would be segregated they would be classed as "vulnerable"

Exactly. And someone somewhere will be paying for the compensation inevitably owed to the women raped by males in prison and other spaces, as well as the children mutilated and harmed by the fast tracking to irreversible AND TOTALLY AVOIDABLE damage being pushed.

And Scotland has REJECTED transgender wings in prisons.

Ndd135632 · 17/11/2022 11:30

@BomboChipolata and by the way yes women and girls safety IS important enough for more to cut loose on a country who’s ruling party (and my do they rule) is passing misogynistic laws. May not be so important to you but it is to me.
