A treat from an M&S

Is not a free loaf of bread?
Are things that bad that a loaf of bread is now considered a treat?

I got the free bread. Sliced pan but not like the usual sliced pan I buy in the supermarket.
I didn't like it so won't be buying it.
It was nice to get it free but I would prefer the Tesco Clubcard or Boots card style loyalty card to the Sparks card.

I do love M&S crumpets toasted though.

Thanks for the reminder about the non food freebies.

I'd forgotten that I'd also got a fancy room spray set and I took it even though I'd never use it as I was there anyway and planned to donate it to the next raffle or similar fundraiser I saw so I must dig that out as there's bound to be a pre-Christmas opportunity.

That is bad. They should have dietary preferences. Or even be able to work it out from the shit loads of data you've given them.

It does make you wonder what all the data capture is in aid of. The only thing I ever visit their food hall for is their gluten free range (although I grab other stuff while I’m there).

Quite. Free stuff you don’t want and won’t use isn’t really a “treat”.

MrsClatterbuck · 14/11/2022 07:56

I haven't had the free bread yet. I got a bag of cookies last week and the bag of Percy pigs are still in the cupboard. Wouldn't mind the free bread. Can you pick a loaf from the bakery? I find their sliced bread is actually cheaper than what I buy in my local spar.

Last Christmas I got a free jar of Percy pigs which I gave away to family
I do like it when I get a free pastry

Riapia · 14/11/2022 08:31

It’s not just bread it’s…….

BarbaraofSeville · 14/11/2022 08:32

The free bread is just the cheaper ones. Basic or farmhouse sliced. They're not giving away the £4 sourdough, not in my experience anyway.

Agree that they should tailor to dietary requirements and offer a gluten free option where appropriate. No-one is going to buy that unless they have to.

MetellaInHortoEst · 14/11/2022 08:44

I can’t believe they’ve never offered me Percy pigs! 😔

rhowton · 14/11/2022 09:46

I always go out of my way to pick up their free bread when I get the offer. I love it.

paleviolet · 24/11/2022 10:28

Got my Sparks card thanks to this thread. Already got treats and discounts.
Thank you!

Anyone know how you see your Sparks points?

someonecookmydinnerplease · 24/11/2022 19:40

@paleviolet I don't think you collect points with this one, you just get discounts and treats

Yirk · 24/11/2022 19:42

4 jazz apples my latest treat.

LoisLane66 · 26/11/2022 18:54

Ah, now it makes sense.
Thanks @someonecookmydinnerplease

FaazoHuyzeoSix · 27/11/2022 09:26

m&s bread is a step nicer than asda bread but it's still mass-produced plasticky pap rather than proper bakery-style real bread.

a treat from M&S would be a sushi platter or some of their cheeses which are often pretty good.

someonecookmydinnerplease · 01/12/2022 16:14

LizziesTwin · 01/12/2022 17:59

I’ve got a light up thingy too

LadyEloise1 · 01/12/2022 19:19

Why are some customers getting free things and others, like me, getting 15% off something they won't be buying.

Same. I don’t think I’ve ever had a freebie 😭
