A treat from an M&S

Is not a free loaf of bread?
Are things that bad that a loaf of bread is now considered a treat?

How do you get the free treats?

I use the M&S app and go on the sparks section and has different offers. Every now and then there is a freebie.

MandUs · 13/11/2022 23:02

I also want to know how to get the free treats.

Ineedwinenow · 13/11/2022 23:04

I’ve had free sweets, handwash, room spray, candle and body lotion ( I didn’t take the candle or lotion though as I don’t use them and no one else I knew wanted them at the time either so it would have been a waste to accept them)

I’ve not had any freebies for ages though just 10% off knickers and jumpers all the time! They must be telling me something…….

You just sign up to the free sparks card and download the app and offers will be added in your app weekly

Sparks card / viewable on the app

If it was one of their San Francisco sourdough loaves I’d be very happy indeed!

Yes they are definitely a treat! Lovely bread.

A pan loaf, not so much (but wouldn’t say no to free)

Anything free is a treat to me. So far I've had.....

A couple of loaves
Handcream
Candle set
Chocolate biscuits
2 lots of percy pigs
Pair of knickers
2 lots of baked items ie: bag of donuts & a berry custard tart.
Bunch of Daffodils

Best of all, I have actually won my shopping.

I’m in awe. This is the dream.

RoseAndGeranium · 13/11/2022 23:12

Quackpot · 13/11/2022 22:42

It's a treat in itself to shop at M&S

Amen.

kittensinthekitchen · 13/11/2022 23:14

Maybe you could wrap it round that petted lip and have yourself a sandwich 😉

PickAChew · 13/11/2022 23:17

My current one is grapes. I've had the loaf of bread. Also had bog roll, which turned out to be as much of a treat as sandpaper.

All more useful than a fucking smelly candle, mind, which my first treat was.

CherryLongIsland · 13/11/2022 23:23

YANBU
I had a free farmhouse loaf and it was horribly pappy, very disappointing. It's a shame it wasn't a baguette.
This has been the only treat I haven't liked though, I or the DC have appreciated all the others.

The annoying thing is you have to physically load the offers. If you're buying something with an offer but haven't loaded it you end up paying the full price.
This is the same with Sainsbury's scan as you shop offers too!

Crikeyalmighty · 13/11/2022 23:28

@brighterthanthemoon I do- it's not the only shop and we aren't loaded- but I value quality over quantity when it comes to food and there's only2 of us and we don't eat that much bread

Arenanewbie · 13/11/2022 23:43

It is definitely a treat in our house. I was excited to see that it’s for a loaf of bread so if anyone is disappointed please send it my way. I love M&S fancy bread from bakery. Their Xmas loaf is £4. It’s quite expensive for a loaf of bread.
In the past we’ve received cookies and Percy pigs. We didn’t even bother to get them.

It would be nothing short of a miracle in this house!

I shop in M&S once a week......to pick up my mothers cottage cheese as she will only eat theirs.
As for "£4 is quite expensive for a loaf of bread" no it isnt. Its fucking exorbitant! I can cook a meal for all of us for £4!

Pivot22 · 14/11/2022 00:33

You’ve just prompted me to check the app and yep, free loaf of bread for me too! I would say I pop in around once a fortnight but the only bread I ever buy are their baguettes so maybe they’re wanting me to try something different.

CallieQ · 14/11/2022 01:01

brighterthanthemoon · 13/11/2022 22:03

It's obviously a treat, no one buys bread from M&S for every day eating unless it's the only shop around or they are loaded

M&S bread is not expensive

CallieQ · 14/11/2022 01:03

I had pink ladies!

Pivot22 · 14/11/2022 01:09

@CallieQ I had Jazz apples the other week. Make sure you look how many in a packet the freebie is for!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 14/11/2022 04:04

Some of M&S bread is cheaper than Hovis, Kingsmill, Warburtons etc.

My Sparks card freebies so far have been
3 loaves of bread
Cookies
Bar of Swiss Chocolate
Library of Fragrance Handwash
Apothecary Sleep Oil
£5 gift voucher
2 pairs of knickers
3pack of tights
Apothecary Hand Gel
Bunch of Daffodils
Random free scone or cake in the cafe (but I don't use the cafe)

Haven't won my shopping yet but maybe one day.
Have had plenty of 15/20% off clothes/beauty/homeware offers that I've used.

Endofmyteatherr · 14/11/2022 04:13

Was it the farmhouse loaf? Agree with others it's nice bread, I'm a bread lover so I would be happy.

FredaFox · 14/11/2022 07:02

Oh yes I've had jazz apples too
No freebies for me right now

MetellaInHortoEst · 14/11/2022 07:04

LizziesTwin · 13/11/2022 21:55

I’ve got a bag of Percy Pigs. I think it’s something you never buy, I’ve never bought them, I’ve tried them occasionally when I’ve been offered them and find them inedible.

Yes I think that’s how it works. I wish there was a way of telling them that the reason I haven’t bought their bread in years is because I have coeliac. I am so sick of them offering me the “treat” of gluten every week.

That is bad. They should have dietary preferences. Or even be able to work it out from the shit loads of data you've given them.

PortiasBiscuit · 14/11/2022 07:16

Eating M&S sourdough toast as I type.
Yummy!
