Is not a free loaf of bread?
Are things that bad that a loaf of bread is now considered a treat?

Twice this year my treat was a free pack of pears. I hate pears. I've never bought a pear in my life. Why do they keep trying to make me want pears?! I don't want pears!

ElmoNeedsThePotty · 13/11/2022 22:16

Anything free is a treat to me. So far I've had.....

A couple of loaves
Handcream
Candle set
Chocolate biscuits
2 lots of percy pigs
Pair of knickers
2 lots of baked items ie: bag of donuts & a berry custard tart.
Bunch of Daffodils

Best of all, I have actually won my shopping.

paleviolet · 13/11/2022 22:21

How do we get these free treats?

Stickystitch · 13/11/2022 22:25

The free bread wasn't really a treat for me as I'm coeliac 😂 But I picked it up anyway and put it in the food bank box.

I think it's just meant to be a freebie rather than a treat like a cake or something? A few times recently it's been fruit which I love - personally I'd be very happy with a free avocado!

Readinstead · 13/11/2022 22:26

I've had Percy pigs three times, pears twice and a bunch of daffodils. Would prefer bread or baked goods to Percy pigs though the dgc would disagree.

oh I hope it was a good shop you won and not just a sandwich for lunch.

I have had some great treats in the past such as hand cream candles but not so much recently this week it was a pack of apples 🍎

flooflo · 13/11/2022 22:29

I love bread. I'd be happy

Butchyrestingface · 13/11/2022 22:32

I am a savoury/carb fiend so I'd take the bread over something like chocolate any day of the week.

Sadly, M&S have never given me hee haw for free. 🎻

ElmoNeedsThePotty · 13/11/2022 22:34

@jillycat72 It was just under £10 which is not to be sniffed at but I did feel a bit disappointed as I had been in there the previous day and spent considerably more.

The young lad on the till told me that the previous week someone won their whole Christmas shop, over £200.

Jammy sods 😁

Fairyliz · 13/11/2022 22:36

I got the bread and I was really disappointed because it was tasteless, basically like eating nothing.
I’m not a big bread fan so would rather have had some chocolate.

Mrsfussypants1 · 13/11/2022 22:37

In the last couple of months I've had 2 free loaves, free apples and free chocolate chip cookies, I treat myself to some m&s Jersey milk to go with the cookies, lovely bed time treat for a couple of nights thank you M&S!

AngeloMysterioso · 13/11/2022 22:38

Mine was a bag of apples.

Wanna swap?

Mrsfussypants1 · 13/11/2022 22:40

The advent treats will be back soon too.

Quackpot · 13/11/2022 22:42

It's a treat in itself to shop at M&S

EvianBaby · 13/11/2022 22:44

i got free grapes today. I’m grateful for anything, tbh. They’ll be useful for the childrens packed lunches 😀

Stoic123 · 13/11/2022 22:46

My treat is a bar of Swiss Chocolate which I'm looking forward to.

Normally get baked goods.

legosunqueen · 13/11/2022 22:49

I was happy with the bread, have had free bread twice & once Percy pigs. Better than a discount on something I'm not going to buy. I'm fairly new to Sparks @ElmoNeedsThePotty tell me about the advent treats...

ZandathePanda · 13/11/2022 22:50

ElmoNeedsThePotty · 13/11/2022 21:52

If it has come from your Sparks offers, they tend to be based on what you buy fairly often. I’ve had the loaf offer several times and been glad of it.

just use the money you’ve saved buying the bread to pick a treat you do want.

For me it’s a bag of their Jelly Babies.

Bloody hell.
What has my life come to.
I would have loved a loaf.
I got 10% multipack knickers instead.

Caneloalvarez · 13/11/2022 22:53

I had a Swiss choc bar this week which was a lovely treat! I don’t like Percy pigs so don’t bother when it’s those. I love M&S but always feel sad that I don’t get a nice discount at the till like I do with my Clubcard 🤣 I also have M&S credit card and only got a £3 voucher to spend this month.. not impressed (pls give me more free stuff M&S lol)

ZandathePanda · 13/11/2022 22:54

oh for an edit button - I meant 10% OFF multipack knickers. Which is much much less exciting than free chocolate.

Toadcatcher · 13/11/2022 22:55

How do you get the free treats?

BarbaraofSeville · 13/11/2022 22:55

brighterthanthemoon · 13/11/2022 22:03

It's obviously a treat, no one buys bread from M&S for every day eating unless it's the only shop around or they are loaded

On the contrary, a basic sliced loaf is about 70 p, likewise milk, cheese and eggs all really good value.

We've had free apples, pears and bananas, but we almost never buy fruit from anywhere so perhaps they're trying to make us eat better.

PeppermintyPatty · 13/11/2022 22:56

If it was one of their San Francisco sourdough loaves I’d be very happy indeed!

popandchoc · 13/11/2022 22:59

I got that and thought the same but then thought actually it probably is a treat now.
Also had percy pigs recently and some pears.

RewildingAmbridge · 13/11/2022 23:01

@brighterthanthemoon their standard and farmhouse loaves are 70-85p
