What would you make of this? Not sure what I'm asking. He's trying to find himself I suppose. We're all looking for meaning in this world. I've thought about religion many times, but just not sure what to make of it right now.

Some years ago my DH was suffering a lot of health problems, and got "into" Jehovah's Witnesses; after some of them came to the door. I just let him get on with it, and didn't mention it at all. It died a death after a year or so.

I agree about it being a phase.
Many religions including Islam require a lot of major lifestyle changes.

My family are flip floppers- my sister ( young retired in age) has been a member of 14 churches,
My mother has been baptised 7 times, and becoming bored with her current church.

newbookonshelf · 25/11/2022 10:23

It was a phase. I kicked him out and he has abandoned the Islam thing.

Or rather it was some kind of psychological thing he was doing on me. It's all becoming very clear now.

Yikes. Be careful.

Hijabimama · 25/11/2022 12:28

This hopefully means he will be rightly guided and become a better person… as following any religion most likely makes you a better person/ well grounded/ higher morals (personal opinion).

hopefully you’ll be able to see the positives that come out of this.

Fucking hell, really? Did you read the latest update? And how fucking insulting to anyone who isn't religious.

So your personal opinion is literally that you're 'better' than other people? Nice.

It's perfectly possible to be agnostic or atheist and be a lovely, well grounded person who is kind to others with good morals.

And to be agnostic or atheist without thinking you're 'better' than other people.

hopefully you’ll be able to see the positives that come out of this.

He's left and has already abandoned the religious side of things.

Have a look back on his veganism, it might also be part of the same pattern.

Hi OP. Do you mean, he was doing it as an act to wind you up?

Coyoacan · 25/11/2022 22:31

This has to have been the weirdest, most Islamophobic thread I've read in a long time.

Really ? I think it’s the opposite . People look upon religion to excuse their worst faults .

Sorry to hear that had to happen, well done on kicking him out. Hope you're relatively okay (and safe) in the circumstances?

bottleofbeer · 26/11/2022 03:53

Ha, no.
Really favours the man doesn't it?

ZorbaTheHoarder · 26/11/2022 07:12

Are you ok, OP?

Cassillero · 26/11/2022 07:27

I'm so sorry @newbookonshelf

I posted before your latest update saying I thought it was perfectly fine, which it clearly wasn't. Hope you're OK.
