You know what you look like. You don't need someone else to describe you to you. If you're not 'pretty' it's not on you, unless you picked your every feature before you were born or you told society what they should define as pretty.

It's rude to comment on someone's appearance but I presume you look in a mirror every day and know how attractive you are? Someone's opinion of you doesn't change that, you are what you are. Accept it and don't put so much stock in what other people think, it's not like you can change your face anyway is it?

I had something similar with a colleague. She said something along the lines of that I was attractive in my own way but not conventionally so like her. She was a very good looking woman. I found it quite funny and filed it away as something to tell my husband when I got home.

No, I think she means as in you're not 'pretty' in a classically feminine way. I'd not describe my DD as 'pretty', but it doesn't mean she's unattractive, she's just not a very 'girly' type of attractive.

I'd say model-like is more beautiful than pretty @namechangerduh . Models tend to be, or can be, not just pretty but strikingly beautiful.

Catwalk models often aren't "pretty" as such but they've got killer bone structure and are attractive or at the very least striking and interesting to look at.

Unless you've got blue skin that's peeling off, you don't look Corpse Bride. But even she was supposed to be a beautiful woman who was just, well, undead.

Some models are walking around with frightening haircuts and bleached eyebrows, but in the main they’re strikingly beautiful people with gorgeous skin, hair, bone structure and eyes. You’ll be ok. Work on your self esteem. Don’t fish for compliments. You’ll be grand.

If someone said that to me, I'd take it to mean "you're striking looking, and although not conventionally pretty, are still very attractive". Appreciate it might be an odd thing to hear from someone you're not that close to, but there are lots of reasons she might have said it (she senses you don't get on well, and was making an ill-advised attempt at being closer for example).

Btw I wouldn't mind being compared to corpse bride so much, especially in my younger goth days 😂She is willowy and graceful, with a pretty face and lovely, long, thick hair! Currently nearing the end of my 2nd pregnancy, wearing my pink hoodie blanket and resemble an amorphous marshmallow creature 😔😂

It seems to me that you're not conventionally good looking but have your own unique thing going on, hence model-like. I think you need to lean into being unique and not see it as a bad thing because it isn't. You say this woman doesn't like you but even in trying to be a bit of a bitch she's paid you a compliment. Being conventionally pretty is all well and good but what you have is something an awful lot of people would like. Learn to love your looks and yourself, you clearly have a lot going for you in that department.
