To ask how much you drink in a week?

I used to not drink at all but once I had my DD I started having half a glass of wine in the evening after I put her down. Over the years (she’s 10 now) that has increased. I’d now say that I drink at least two glasses of wine every night and at weekends an extra couple of beers / a cocktail. Is that a lot? What do you drink?

Up until recently, 2 or 3 gins 3 or 4 nights a week. Was increasing so I stopped drinking at home completely.

Now I only drink when I go out which is rare, but then I make up for it and go all out, and make a total tit of myself.

I need to not drink at all...

Generally I don't drink much at all but have a few beers every now and again. Wish I could drink more wine but I can't tolerate it these days - I get allergy symptoms and then don't sleep well. I'd probably be OK with spirits but too expensive.

This! Alcohol doesn't agree with me so I'd be useless if I drank every evening.

Two glasses a night with supper. Normal liver function tests & fit/healthy. My mother was the same and lived to her nineties.

I drink over a bottle of wine every night. I hate myself

I probably have about 3 alcoholic drinks per year. Absolutely hate the way it makes me feel.

I find the concept of drinking quite odd, I think I’m more sympathetic to drugs (recreational)than alcohol, at least they make you feel good or so I’ve been told.

I know the feeling, and the self hatred. You're not alone, remember that.

I don’t drink anything on an average week, but when and if I go out, about every 3 months if lucky I will have a drink. Don’t see point in having a drink at home

I’ve been there @Littleelffriend . The self hatred is the reason I cut right down.
I now drink around 3 bottles of wine a week and intend to reduce it further. I realised what a warped view of alcohol Id developed and a dose of self loathing is not ‘treating myself’. There’s a lot of false marketing around wine.

I have a small drink most nights too. I don't know why, I just look forward to it. I rarely have more unless I'm out or its a special occasion.

I'd say it average 10 to 20 units a week.

To be fair the op did ask, but when it comes from a position where you think you're drinking too much it's not that helpful to have all the posts saying I drink once every three months or just when I'm I get offered baileys at Xmas etc. it seems a bit smug. Maybe have a little think before posting.

On the other hand only people who drink quite a lot posting would maybe lead OP to thinking her drinking was “normal”.

Does anyone know how many units a large wine is? I never know if I have recommended weekly amount as just don't get the 'units' calculation.

If you mean 250 ml it can easily be 3 or more as a bottle is 9/10

A large wine is 3 units @norwichmummy123 . You get 3 of them (250ml) to a bottle and it’s 9 units a bottle.

I don't drink at all. Not against it, just never do.

2 125ml glasses of wine a night, with at least 2 nights a week off.
Although I've had a stressful few weeks and it started creeping up a bit, added to a rather boozy weekend away, so I haven't drunk anything for 4 nights.
It's shocking how much I've been craving it.

Wine every day. That is a lot. I probably have 1 night out every month when I drink say 1/2-1 bottle of wine over dinner out. Odd party where it gets a bit drunk.
I occasionally have a beer on a Friday night, maybe twice a month. So you are drinking a lot!

Nothing. I drink on special occasions. Drinking in the house on regular days, stinks of addiction to me

My answer is I don't drink. (It's as stupid as smoking, imo).

I think people's height/ weight is a bit relevant here as shorter people can tolerate less. So may be ppl can add that (roughly) to their post to help comparing.
