To ask how much you drink in a week?

I used to not drink at all but once I had my DD I started having half a glass of wine in the evening after I put her down. Over the years (she’s 10 now) that has increased. I’d now say that I drink at least two glasses of wine every night and at weekends an extra couple of beers / a cocktail. Is that a lot? What do you drink?

As I said in my previous post, it’s becoming a habit but statistically many of the people posting they rarely drink will be over the recommended BMI and not do sufficient cardio and strength training. It’s not one measure that will determine health outcomes.

The campaign has been highly effective in people remembering the # of units per week. Sadly the same is true not for calories and exercise and requirements.

Why do you think not drinking is miserable?

I don’t drink to get drunk, and don’t like being drunk but I get a lot of pleasure from a nice glass of wine. I’ve gone months without drinking a few times and although it was fine, it was so lovely to have a few glasses of wine again.

Thanks for replying. I found drinking miserable, trying to moderate miserable, I’m definitely much less miserable now I don’t drink at all

A bottle of wine spread over 2 nights at the weekend most weekends.

have more on a rare night out maybe once or twice a year.

I’ve drunk loads in my youth and I could quite easily drink a glass or two a night..I have done in the past but as alcoholism and addiction runs in my family it scares me so I watch what I drink.

my grandad, my 2 brothers and my mum have all been alchohol dependent/alchoholics and I’ve watched it destroys their lives and their relationships and I want no part of that.
