AWFUL NAMES TO CALL YOU CHILD...

I dont think there's anything people get more worked up over something that is none of their business than what someone has or wants to call their child.
With this in mind, I thought it might be fun for people to nominate some really bad names they've heard friends or relatives have given to these poor little children.... Whats the worst you've ever heard?
Who knows... this page might be inspiration for some pregnant ladies out there!
Have fun!

Thanks hatrick, I think your girls' name are fabulous btw

Alice - hope it wasn't my ds! I do think that knowing someone you dislike with a particular name can really put you off that name

XAliceInWonderlandX · 29/01/2008 20:33

Hatrick we were tempted by Hero, I think it is a lovely name.

edam · 29/01/2008 20:47

Hero is the heroine (arf) of a lovely Georgette Heyer novel.

Desiderata · 29/01/2008 20:47

Hester Shire is one of my favourites.

Someone on MN a while ago said that their dh did business with a Hong Kong oppo by the name of Fanny Pong.

Now that is awesome!

lottiejenkins · 29/01/2008 20:47

True story - DP and I were at the Dr's surgery with DD when she was small and there was a little girl in the waiting room called .......J-Lo, guess it had to happen !

Sunshinemummy · 29/01/2008 20:51

Agree Hero is a lovely name and I think Titus is nice too.

mymatemax · 29/01/2008 20:59

I know of a Fleetwood & Memphis

& an Arthur Head, (arfur)

snowleopard · 29/01/2008 21:01

Aaaaah great thread, I love yours Blu! Especially envelope, I might use that one day.

We used to have an upstairs neighbour called Mashfuka. I'm sure it's a nice name in another language but it made us laugh.

And I'm *sure" I've read somewhere that there actually are people with the first name Shithead - it's pronounced differently or something...

toastedteacake · 29/01/2008 21:10

Someone at a meeting in a place where I worked a long time ago......

Nicholas Bird

And why oh why are there so many Michael Halls' about.... and why do they always shorten their names to Mike Hall?

I came across a Jezebel earlier this year - mum obviously had no idea of the negative associations to the name.

soopermum1 · 29/01/2008 21:51

a woman in the doctor's surgery had little boys called arthur and stanley. nothing particularly odd about the names as such, but it made me wonder if they were named after their grandfathers

Rhubarb · 29/01/2008 21:53

My ds's middle name is Sherlock.

PortAndLemon · 29/01/2008 21:58

I love Hero, but could never quite sell DH on it.

zoepoey44 · 29/01/2008 22:08
