I just wish there was a fair crack for all our sons and daughters to get theses opportunities 🤢

Tyger Honey Drew is from Outnumbered.
But I'd say he's made it in spite of what his parents did.

Oh yes that's what I meant forgot the name of it!

@susan12345678 My point exactly our kids don’t get off the starting block

It’s true. If you already have connections in the right places it will always be easier to get the foot in the door. I imagine that always was and always will be true (whether that’s hiring a babysitter, one is more likely to hire one recommended by a family member or a friend than just sipping through hundreds of applications / emails, or whether that’s for a entry level job at an investment bank, in media etc)

But even if it wasn’t like that there would still be a a lot of sons and daughters that will not get the job they wanted. Not because someone with connection got it but just because there was so many applicants.

Yes, without connection one needs to work and persevere that much harder at the beginning of their career, not later as much though, as they create their own network (if they are good in what they do).

So the question is, knowing this is the deal, what can I do as an individual to give myself the best chance in life with what I’ve got. Feeling sorry for self or giving up thinking will never happen as I have no connection is more of a self fulfilling prophecy.

And yes, sometimes it will be one never gets their dream job but that is life, most people don’t, very often because they haven’t got what it takes (that includes persistent hard work, knocking on the doors and reassessing realistic opportunities and career paths for self, not many people persevere and do their maximum best)

No-one ever said life was fair.

I wanted my daughter to be a barrister, she is very intelligent, quick witted and articulate but crap in exams, she wanted to be a carpenter, I got her a weeks unpaid work experience, (Yr 10 I think it was) she was borderline crap at times, the yard manager said I can see something in there, send her back for a week in the holidays, this time she soared.

So yes, I said to the yard manager any chance and it went from there.
He plays rugby for our ladies team and has been asked by other club members to do x y and z small jobs for them and then they have recommended her.

She has done it on her own talents and personality.

I would book a trip to Specsavers to see about your green eyes OP.
