AIBU to think when staying in hotel should not go down to breakfast in pyjamas

Last night stayed overnight in a City Centre hotel and a family all came down to breakfast wearing their pyjamas, looking like they had all jumped out of bed , it was 9am so still had time to shower and dress before breakfast finished , AIBU to think this is not appropriate

As long as they're covered, I genuinely couldn't care. I draw the line at nips in the cornflakes though.

woodhill · 05/11/2022 17:24

I think it's awful

Yanbu

I would salute them. So many times I've skipped breakfast because I couldn't be bothered to dress and knew people like you would judge!! Awful. It didn't affect you in any way.
Good for them!

Did you trave lhome in your PJs?

JanetSally · 05/11/2022 17:26

YANBU. It's inappropriate and I would assume they were either badly brought up or just hugely lacking in awareness.

BabyClubYEEAAH · 05/11/2022 17:26

Literally no one in real life cares about stuff like this

glassfully · 05/11/2022 17:26

CookPassBabtridge · 05/11/2022 17:09

They've been sweating and farting in those all night so YANBU!

You could say the same about people wearing clothes to dinner 🤣

For what it's worth, it wouldn't bother me. What someone else wears has no effect on my day.

Except they do.

Hazlenutlatte23 · 05/11/2022 17:26

I don't get the overreaction on this thread. I personally have never gone to breakfast in my pjs but I would if it was the norm! Also, the posters commenting about how gross because they won't have showered or brushed their teeth etc. Well I get dressed for the hotel breakfast but I never shower in the morning, always at night, and I brush my teeth after breakfast!

TakeMe2Insanity · 05/11/2022 17:26

We stayed in a 5 star hotel in Singapore and a lot of Chinese guests came down in pyjama/lingerie sets (satin shorts, camisole tops and matching dressing gown) it was odd. I’ve never seen anyone else do it. I do think it is inappropriate.

Roselilly36 · 05/11/2022 17:26

I agree, inappropriate behaviour. I wouldn’t dream of my family doing so.

Siepie · 05/11/2022 17:27

I wouldn't do it myself, but I couldn't care less if other people do. I'm surprised at the strength of so many posters reactions.

PearlclutchersInc · 05/11/2022 17:29

People think anything goes. A hotel in we stayed in pre COVID had a sign outside the dining room stating the requirement to be dressed for breakfast.

The fact that people actually have to be told is boggling.

notanothertakeaway · 05/11/2022 17:31

I'm surprised people think it's OK. I think it's grim

BabyClubYEEAAH · 05/11/2022 17:31

Except they do.

No only the mumsnet precious brigade.

NeedWineNow · 05/11/2022 17:32

That's scuzzy and yes, I would judge. I'd be surprised that the hotel didn't challenge them.

You tell yourself that, if it reassures you.

They are scummy chavs. I hate to think what they’ve done in the room if they have such little disregard for social norms and other people.

This. Proper scummy and lazy

DutchessOfMuck · 05/11/2022 17:34

I am clutching my pearls so tight my hand hurts.

I cant believe people went and had breakfast in pyjamas at a hotel. Talk about being uncouth.

CuriousCatfish · 05/11/2022 17:34

I'd rather sit near a relaxed family in PJs than some of the uptight people on here.

PeloFondo · 05/11/2022 17:36

FourChimneys · 05/11/2022 16:59

I think it's scummy. Have they washed? Have they cleaned their teeth, brushed their hair?

I don't wash in the morning (except my face). Shower at night. Teeth cleaned of course
Don't ever brush my hair
Grin

TheLateLadyLothbrook · 05/11/2022 17:36

Hard no. Keep your bed clothes for the privacy of your own dining room. I'd hate to see this.

toomuchlaundry · 05/11/2022 17:37

So if you were staying at a hotel type place that doesn't have its own restaurant so you had to go to the nearest restaurant down the street for breakfast, would that be okay to go to in your pyjamas?

If you don't want to get dressed for breakfast have it in your room

LolaSmiles · 05/11/2022 17:38

I'm not surprised. It's the sort of thing where most people would think it's a bit unusual to show up to a communal eating area in your nightwear.
I'd imagine it's something people notice but keep their thoughts to themselves, much like nightwear in the supermarkets, men going round Tesco half naked when the sun is out, and parents doing the school run in their slippers and dressing gowns.

Confrontayshunme · 05/11/2022 17:41

I find this weird because I have been to VERY posh spa hotels where it is normal for people to have meals in robes and flip flops with swimming cossies on. How is this different?!
