Last night stayed overnight in a City Centre hotel and a family all came down to breakfast wearing their pyjamas, looking like they had all jumped out of bed , it was 9am so still had time to shower and dress before breakfast finished , AIBU to think this is not appropriate

I have never seen that and I would definitely assume the staff would send them back to put clothes on. I’m guessing it’s the same type of people who do school drop-offs and supermarket shopping in pyjamas who would do it, and they generally don’t react well to criticism.

Munchyseeds2 · 05/11/2022 17:08

I would think it a very odd way to behave, surely you get dressed??

CookPassBabtridge · 05/11/2022 17:09

They've been sweating and farting in those all night so YANBU!

SeasonFinale · 05/11/2022 17:09

Were they pyjamas or loungewear which is the thing?

BankyWollocks · 05/11/2022 17:11

I think if someone did that they had not learnt proper manners
It's not, in my opinion, acceptable unless you are under 3

maddy68 · 05/11/2022 17:11

I couldn't care less. Perhaps they prefer to get showers after breakfast.

unwillingantisocial · 05/11/2022 17:12

I do feel weird when I see this. Even when it’s kids. It’s like they think the hotel is one big family home when it isn’t.

SheWoreYellow · 05/11/2022 17:14

I think it would be great if this was a thing.

UWhatNow · 05/11/2022 17:15

They are scummy chavs. I hate to think what they’ve done in the room if they have such little disregard for social norms and other people.

CuriousCatfish · 05/11/2022 17:15

I wouldn't care.

Mezmer · 05/11/2022 17:15

It shows a complete lack of respect to other people. But that’s where we’re at isn’t it? Extreme individualism, no thought for anyone else but yourself. And it does impact everyone. What you do what you wear how you behave in public affects everyone. It sets the tone. Actually reminds me of a time when I went out to dinner, which was a massive treat for me and DH to an expensive restaurant. We saved for it, dressed for it and then had a woman next to us in pink hot pants and crop top with enormous (think inflatables) fake boobs falling out her top and a plastic face. You. Ours see the veins on the skin. So that was the tone lowered and made a mockery of the whole charade. Obviously it didn’t ruin the evening but it’s the same sort of thing. No, it doesn’t hurt anyone but the world is no better off for people just ‘doing their thing’.

OohMrBingley · 05/11/2022 17:15

No, they don’t, do they. They expect to be able to be slovenly and have no-one think anything of it. But people do think something of it.

pewtypie · 05/11/2022 17:16

I was never bothered before but I was in Tesco yesterday and a man was in his Marvel fluffy pyjamas and flip flops and I found myself rolling my eyes.

So YANBU but we are probably both BU.

Flubber88 · 05/11/2022 17:17

A definate no from me and never seen this in a hotel.

CuriousCatfish · 05/11/2022 17:17

I doubt they care what other people think of them and good for them.

VioletLemon · 05/11/2022 17:18

This would completely physically repulse me and I wouldn't be able to eat breakfast. Not sure why I'd have such a strong reaction but it seems so manky to me.

MintJulia · 05/11/2022 17:18

Yanbu Who wants to eat their breakfast close to a sweaty smelly stranger who hasn't washed or cleaned their teeth 🙁

I don't think they are.
Isn't the point of loungewear that it has all the comfort of pyjamas but you can look presentable enough to answer the door or throw a coat and shoes on if you need to run a quick errand?

I'd say two of these photos are loungewear and one is pyjamas.

Awful, shows such a lack of respect for everyone else.

CuriousCatfish · 05/11/2022 17:20

How do you know they haven't cleaned their teeth? You can clean your teeth wearing pyjamas.

MajorCarolDanvers · 05/11/2022 17:21

Absolutely rank to go to breakfast in your PJs in a hotel.

I'm surprised the staff didn't challenge this.

Itsacakebaby · 05/11/2022 17:21

Totally inappropriate.

Just bloody lazy.

Pandorapitstop · 05/11/2022 17:22

Of course you can, but they probably haven’t.

If you’re the type to go out in public in pyjamas, unwashed, then you’re probably not going to attend to your dental hygiene.

At the very least, everyone will assume you haven’t - because of the way you’re presented. 🤷🏻‍♀️
