Last night stayed overnight in a City Centre hotel and a family all came down to breakfast wearing their pyjamas, looking like they had all jumped out of bed , it was 9am so still had time to shower and dress before breakfast finished , AIBU to think this is not appropriate

Maybe they're in a local hotel because their house burned down in the night and all they have is their pjs?

Yes, that is indeed a highly likely scenario.

Yes you’re spot on there following a catastrophic domestic fire ,the hotels are heaving with families in their pyjamas chomping down a fry up next day

totally inappropriate - even in a B&B, let alone a city centre hotel... probably the sort of people who take their shoes and socks off on planes 🙄

Naked is absolutely fine. Nobody will notice

Just make sure you're sticking that fork into the right sausage.

@Sparklingbrook
Naked is absolutely fine. Nobody will notice and it’s none of anyone else’s business anyway apparently 😆

If your naked body is more expensive than everyone else's it's definitely OK!

After an event I wanted some breakfast and then go back to bed - I might not have showered but I brushed my teeth, tidied my hair and changed into leggings and tshirt and went down for breakfast - so not completely done up but definitely not in PJS either!

Thats just a bit grim going down in PJs its not your house

Some people have absolutely no pride in themselves.

It's just a continuation of the breakdown of polite society. The people wearing their pyjamas were only thinking 'they do it at home' so then it should be ok to do in a hotel as well. They probably thought everyone would be in their pyjamas.

Where does it stop though? Some people wear very little to bed, some sleep naked. It won't be long before one of them will they be appearing in public places for breakfast in just a t-shirt with their genitals on full display. It's going to happen - mark my word.

Some parents here on Mumsnet, allow their teenage children to have their girlfriend/boyfriend stay over night to mate in their bedrooms - sometimes noisily. What kind of a child has so little respect for their parents and family home? Probably it's the same family having breakfast in a hotel wearing their sleep wear.

Totally agree with this and it extends to where they live as well. When DH and I were recently back in the town where we grew up, we had a drive around the council estate where we both lived for old times sake . What a total tip, we couldn't believe it. Wrecked cars in the road, rubbish blowing around, overgrown gardens, ripped and dirty curtains at the windows - no pride in where they lived at all.

Our families never had any money but our gardens were always neat with mowed lawns. Our parents would have been embarassed to let the neighbours think we were living in squalor. We never had much money for clothes but they were always clean and ironed. Both our Mums worked as well so it wasn't as if they were home all day to do this sort of stuff. Mum always used to say there was no excuse for dirty even if you were poor.

I don't know where it all went wrong.

I would feel very uncomfortable, in general I only feel comfortable in my PJs in front of my husband, but I most likely CBA with other people doing it.

I'd think they all look fucking ridiculous but no harm done.

Oreosareawful · 11/11/2022 14:11

I see it as a lack of self respect. I wouldn't dream of being seen in public in my PJ's
