DH using dirty laundry to blow his nos.

DH will reach into the dirty washing basket, pull out an item of clothing, towel or bedsheet, whatever is in there and comes to hand, and blow his nose. Proper snot fest.

He's had a cold this week so it's been constant, despite asking him not to as it turns my stomach.

His stinking wet gym stuff is bad enough without going to put a load on and getting a handful of mucus.

He thinks it's fine because it's going in the wash anyway. I think it's fucking gross.

It's wound me up today because I bought a box of tissues and put them next to the washing basket, and he's taken them and put these upstairs.

Am I being uptight and unreasonable?

(Full disclosure, I can get a bit funny about germs, bodily fluids etc . I am a bit of a serial hand washer and can have sensory overload to things like this.)

Please tell me you never ever do his washing?

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 05/11/2022 15:40

You're not being unreasonable, he is being hideous

CocoLux · 05/11/2022 15:41

It's being washed though? It's a bit grim but I can see his logic

Veja · 05/11/2022 15:41

shocking 🤢 you are definitely not the unreasonable one

StoneofDestiny · 05/11/2022 15:42

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

mamabear715 · 05/11/2022 15:45

Urgh

mamabear715 · 05/11/2022 15:46

I'd buy a box of tissues for EVERY room..

liveforsummer · 05/11/2022 15:47

Wtf. Surely it needs a hotter/longer wash to actually get rid of that than you'd normally use so coating you more money as well as being absolutely grim. I could not live with someone who did this. What in earth is wrong with a bit of toilet roll for the job?!

ZeroFuchsGiven · 05/11/2022 15:47

I dont tjhink in all my years here I have ever said this but honestly LTB, what a dirty fucker.

thinkingalways · 05/11/2022 15:48

Sounds grim. But playing devils advocate I suppose it’s only the same as using a hanky then putting it in the wash? It’s as gross for him I think, I’d want a nice clean handkerchief not a dirt sheet or sweaty top!

Really, you'd be happy grabbing stuff out of the basket and getting a hand full of snot?

Envy < not envy

Wouldn't you put those on a separate hot wash though?

oviraptor21 · 05/11/2022 15:50

On the basis that cloth handkerchiefs go in the wash and this isn't really a lot different, I'm saying yabu.

No. Why would you do that? 30C like everything else.

liveforsummer · 05/11/2022 15:53

Why? Because snotty hankies are extra germy, because a cool quick wash probably wouldn't shift dried on snot. Tbh I'd not use a hanky anyway as they are pretty grim. There's good reason they aren't very popular these days!

So you'd be happy to negotiate a basket full of washing, of which some random item could be snot covered? Putting your hand in that?

SparklyFoot · 05/11/2022 15:59

I don't know. I can see the sense in saving a tissue and no different to washable hankies?

msbevvy · 05/11/2022 15:59

Filthy sod

I can remember my Mum used to boil up the dirty hankies on the cooker in an old saucepan kept specially for that purpose.

A normal was in the machine mightn''t be sufficient to kill all the bugs.

DamnUserName21 · 05/11/2022 16:01

Saving tissue, I suppose!!!

SnotRag22 · 05/11/2022 16:01

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks it's grim! I wish he'd use a hanky, at least you can spot a hanky in a clothes basket and proceed with caution.

SparklyFoot · 05/11/2022 16:03

Surely if you're concerned about germs you wash hands after handling dirty laundry anyway?

SirCharlesRainier · 05/11/2022 16:03

Why is everyone blithely talking about cloth handkerchiefs as if they're not fucking gross too?! We have tissues now, it's not the 19th century.

TheLateLadyLothbrook · 05/11/2022 16:04

I'd actually kill him. We'd be in Take a Break magazine for this. Hard NO!

Maray1967 · 05/11/2022 16:04

My mum boil washed cotton. Hankies back in the day then put them in the wash.
OP, he is disgusting. If mine did this, I’d hit the bloody roof.

FlorettaB · 05/11/2022 16:06

That’s got to be grounds for divorce.
