DH using dirty laundry to blow his nos.

DH will reach into the dirty washing basket, pull out an item of clothing, towel or bedsheet, whatever is in there and comes to hand, and blow his nose. Proper snot fest.

He's had a cold this week so it's been constant, despite asking him not to as it turns my stomach.

His stinking wet gym stuff is bad enough without going to put a load on and getting a handful of mucus.

He thinks it's fine because it's going in the wash anyway. I think it's fucking gross.

It's wound me up today because I bought a box of tissues and put them next to the washing basket, and he's taken them and put these upstairs.

Am I being uptight and unreasonable?

(Full disclosure, I can get a bit funny about germs, bodily fluids etc . I am a bit of a serial hand washer and can have sensory overload to things like this.)

Might as well wipe your bum on his T shirt then following his logic...

What a strange man! Admittedly I've seen other do the same thing. For goodness sake, I've watched another 30 -odd year old man use his own jumper sleeve to wipe his nose whilst wearing it. Yes, it's disgusting. Tell him off for it.

I think it wouldn't matter for a slightly runny nose but not thick green snot

ticklemepinker · 08/03/2023 12:23

He can do it, but it means he needs to do the laundry.

It's gross. If DH did that he'd have his own laundry basket and would be responsible for doing his own washing. Though if he'd moved in and I'd found he did that he might not be my DH.

If we used cloth hankies I'd wash them separately with the tea cloths on a hot wash. And for people mentioning the all sorts that ends up on baby clothes, I washed them separately.

I've caught my mother in law doing this......on my washing!!!!! I offered her a tissue with a disgusted look on my face.

You need to get him a separate laundry basket for his things, then he can snot on them to his heart’s content.

In the words of Mr McEnroe you cannot be serious .... I've seen and read everything now .. we have reached a new nadir ...
