AIBU to think this is not tat

Recently purchased this rather gorgeous glass and metal pineapple from our local charity shop. I love it, but DH thinks it's ugly tat. Obviously he's wrong and has no appreciation for it's beauty. Maybe you lovely MN'ers can settle this argument for me.

I'd quite like to see a pic of the appalling sounding Buddha.

I don't believe a man who owns a purple Buddha has any right to be commenting adversely on glass pineapples.

I'm in the "of course it's tat but it's kind of gorgeous in a way" camp. It displays very well on your dinky table below that metal... er... thing. I probably wouldn't have bought it myself, though, unless it was a lamp.

OP. love the pineapple! I love interesting houses with things to look at. Hate the whole "show home" style.

I mean it is tat (useless and to many ugly) but if you like it you like it, your allowed to like tat.

I am afraid it is cheap tat.

There are some pineapple ornament / jar type things that I really like but they tend to be vintage 50s esqe

I love the fact that the second and third set of photos do not make it look anything other than semi-holographic, entirely unnatural and innately tat-like 😁
Then comes the fact that it was EIGHT QUID! 😱
And what to do with it? It could be a house for more tat, like a set of tatrioshka matrioshka dolls.
You could stick that thing in front of the Taj Mahal for a photo and it would still be glistening away, still entirely lacking culture. 😁

The more I look at it, the more it (sort of) grows on me. 😎 You could add fairy lights to the inside to use it as holiday deco.

I can’t answer honestly without knowing if it actually does anything? Is it a lamp? Storage jar? Or just sits there??? 😂

It’s hideous but I also love it.

Would I want it in my house? Absolutely not.
