I think smokers are just so selfish

lawofselfish · 04/11/2022 04:47

Not just because of the disgusting smell, but because of everything needing 10/15 mins advance notice.

'Yes I'm ready, just nipping out for a cigarette and then we can go' etc.

Really annoying.

I'm talking about outside not inside.

It's OK to smoke near babies if you're outside?

I didn't say it was. Like I said before I smoke but not when outside and only at home.

You can twist it how you like,

What are you saying, then? Someone mentioned smoking in hospital grounds, near newborns, and you responded with "don't forget all the other stuff that is in the air".Are you saying you weren't attempting to trivialise smoking around hospitals and newborns? What point were you trying to make?

Got fed up reading through the thread, but I did notice one poster saying that unless you were an alcoholic, drinking wasn't a problem.. I'd suggest watching the many police programmes on tv, I think that might change your mind..
I'm a careful smoker, I don't smoke in my own or anyone else's house or car. I do NOT throw the ends onto the floor, if I can't find a bin, I'll pop it back into my packet until I do. I'll take myself far away from bus stops etc where there are other people.
A drinker, on the other hand, causing fights, damage, throwing up..

It's not the Shit Olympics. The fact that drinking causes problems doesn't mean smoking isn't antisocial and horrible.

Most people drink responsibly and don't cause harm. All smokers cause harm, if only to themselves and, by extension, those who care about them.

Disposable vaping has taken hold of some many young people, they're falling head first into the nicotine trap.
How did society allow this marketing strategy work on the younger generation.
The hard years put into shaming smokers to banish lung diseases and nicotine addiction is wasted.
No one knows how vaping will impact their lungs longterm.
They're ideal for quitting but now used for a start up addiction.

Insults? I'm sorry if the truth offends you.

Offends me? I don't care what you say. I don't even know you. You're just some angry random internet voice. 🤪 You carry on dear. Give it your best. And more. It won't change anything will it. Although no doubt my post will exacerbate your frothing rage. You'll be running out of insults soon. Quick think of some more. Make them better this time. Impactful. 🎯 Looking forward to it.

The issue for us is that smoking makes you smell and forces your second hand smoke on us. That's pretty selfish however you cut it, although adduction by nature causes selfishness and projection.

The other issues - your stained teeth and fingers, your bad breath, your cough, your wrinkled mouth and your prematurely ageing body, with all the life-limiting risks subjected to it - are between you and the people who sleep with you or care about you. If you insist that there's nothing to be concerned about on that score, I'm sure we all believe it.

LesterBiggot · 06/11/2022 09:03

Us? Are you an 'us' now? The 'Us' gang? How sweet.

Why do you think it matters to me what the Us gang believe?

And my body looks great thanks. Really very good. At least ten years younger than my actual age. With fitness to match. So don't worry yourselves, 'Us' gang. 😂. And if you don't like the odd cigarette in public (even though pollution from cars is off the scale from that) then I suggest you put your head down and keep walking away from the smoker people that you despise.

I'd just ignore him/her. They're obviously just looking for an argument.

In your opinion“

well, no. In the opinion of oncologists, too.

“It's a little more nuanced than that”

No, it really isn’t.

I'm not looking for an argument. The grumpy Us gang are though. After all, I'm not calling any of you names unlike your good selves.

Tell me, what other causes do the Us gang support? I bet you've got loads in common with each other. This is just the start of a beautiful friendship for you guys. You can thank me for bringing the Us people together, united in your approach to make the world a better place (in your Us view anyway.). 💪🎖️

ReneBumsWombats · 06/11/2022 11:35

Nah, that was shit. Try again. More Internet badass and boasting about how incredibly fit and sexy you are. That was on form.

LesterBiggot · 06/11/2022 11:58

I am very sexy and healthy. You are right. I wonder if membership to the Us gang requires a withered, bitter, sucking on a lemon look. I don't look like that. Fortunately.

Anyway I'm going to leave you Us gang members to it now. I'm sure you need to have a club house meeting to strategize how you're going to make the world a better place. You're not doing a very good job at the moment so you need time to regroup and plan.

I'd love to say it's been lovely chatting, but upon reflection, the conversation has been quite a dull experience for me. The nature of the Us gang I suppose. Its all a bit ranty, angry and pointless. I don't think we have much in common. Fortunately.

Bye ladies. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, working in partnership to make the world a safe and better place. 💪🌬️🚭🚬 ♥️

“I am very sexy and healthy“

On the outside, maybe. Though there’s nothing sexy about smelling like an ashtray, whatever you tell yourself.

ReneBumsWombats · 06/11/2022 12:03

Mmm, that was better, but it didn't have the projected accusations of rage that should come as standard and it lacked overall finesse. I can't award it more than about a 6.

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 06/11/2022 12:03

Agreed totally OP and I say that as an ex smoker. It is absolutely disgusting and gives people cancer and turns them into selfish arseholes who take loads more breaks than none smoking colleagues

mamabear715 · 06/11/2022 12:26

Smoker logging off, enjoy yourselves, 'us' gang, spoiling for a fight!
Have a ciggie.. makes you so much more chilled.. ;-)

Disappointing. Can't you find it in your heart to push it to a 7.5?

No it doesn't 😂

I think most people see the attempt at humour for what it is so no need to point the spotlight on that.
The one thing that really sticks out with smokers though is that they will ALWAYS have the money for cigarettes. Kids might be eating shit or missing out on stuff but the smoking parent will always have their smokes. Even the smokers know this. Hence, defending the indefensible 🤷‍♀️

All addictions come first and foremost whether it's nicotine, heroin, alcohol or food.
Loved ones miss out on a better life than what's provided by the addicted parents be it physically, mentally or through learned behaviour.
Hence, defending the indefensible.
I don't think shaming people and calling them names helps because every addiction has defensive sufferers behind it.
Like overeating there is an emotional dependency and attachment to smoking.
It doesn't make people a failure.

No. That was already too generous. It was missing furious accusations and the ridiculous Internet posturing. These are basics. It just felt lazy and thrown together.
