We’ve had 1 but a friend in another area has had loads. Hope we haven’t bought way too many sweets

No, we’re not in America

Mum is that you? Have you said “It’s just begging” because then I’d be convinced.

Pigsinmuck · 31/10/2022 19:06

Loads. But we are in a village where loads of people decorate and we create a map of all the houses taking part.

Oysterbabe · 31/10/2022 19:07

We've only had 4 groups. Went out with my 4 and 6 year old, it absolutely poured with rain the whole time and we gave up fast. They still got a good haul. If we'd done the loop I had planned we'd probably still have some left next year.

Dragonred · 31/10/2022 19:07

We had hundreds, ran out of sweets in about 20 minutes! At one point there was a queue of about 30 kids. People travel to our area to trick or treat so it’s like this every year.

torthecatlady · 31/10/2022 19:08

We ran out, so had to break open the tub of Celebrations that I'd bought for Christmas. It's gone quiet now.

Minimalme · 31/10/2022 19:09

First year in new house so got a couple of big bags in case of a rush!

In the end, I only had one large group of teens who ate 1.5 bags between them and were very sweet.

Am glad because otherwise I will just eat them all myself and my waistline can't handle that.

neverendinglauaundry · 31/10/2022 19:10

Still going strong here! And I've eaten a load of quality street

theMedicinalPorpoise · 31/10/2022 19:10

So far I've been visited by:
Pikachu
A butterfly
An escaped dead prisoner
Pennywise
A tiny adorable witch
Jack Skellington
Wednesday Addams
And various other terrifying creatures

WhiteFire · 31/10/2022 19:10

Two lots, one being dd's friend from school.

We are just a small cul-de-sac, people seem to just carry on past the end of the road, we obviously don't look like houses worth bothering with.

It is yes, stop messing about on your phone and do your homework

Chateaudiaries · 31/10/2022 19:12

We’ve had a steady stream of nice polite kids here, including one sweet child who said “mummy I love that dog” about my dog watching in the window Halloween Smile

PopGoesTheProsecco · 31/10/2022 19:13

Hundreds - and that's no exaggeration. We live on a housing estate in a village and it's almost locally 'famous' for Halloween. People actually drive across town to our estate for Halloween (you can tell as the usually empty entrance road to the estate has cars parked up on both sides). We spent £40 on sweets - big bags of individual sweets (Moams, lollies etc) and big bags containing 60 little Haribos packets. We ran out by about 6.30pm. There were often queues of kids at the door. Huge groups of kids!

Good for you.

Neither Halloween nor trick or treating originated in America.

hiredandsqueak · 31/10/2022 19:22

No but I've not decorated or got lights on. It's bucketing down here so doubt there will be many out tonight.

Worriednow21 · 31/10/2022 19:23

Only had 2 lots at the door. Can't see anymore coming now that its starting to get a bit later.

Ifionlyknewthenwhatiknownow3 · 31/10/2022 19:25

Only 3 lots so far but in the first lot a wee skeleton gave ME a packet of skittles out of his pocket...The Daddy said he's being doing it in reverse all evening😀

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 31/10/2022 19:25

We've had a lot and had to close door and close curtains as we ran out of sweets.

That's just ridiculous

LubaLuca · 31/10/2022 19:31

The cutest caller we had was a tiny little Pennywise complete with red balloon who, as soon as I opened the door, shouted "Mummy said I mustn't go in your house so I promise I won't!" I guess they'd wandered straight in when the previous house had opened the door 😂

JeanMarie · 31/10/2022 19:31

It's pissing down here but I've just had one group of tiny little kids and a bedraggled looking mum. I had forgotten to get any sweets in but had a brainwave and ripped open one of the Xmas presents i 'd wrapped last night.

We've had bloody loads. I bought two of those enormous tins of vintage sweets with maybe 30 in each and I've only given each child one individual item and they've all gone!

Beezknees · 31/10/2022 19:34

I live in a flat so don't really get any. It's absolutely pissing it down here, I haven't seen many people out.

Auntieobem · 31/10/2022 19:34

We've had loads. Best joke so far, "what do you call a man with a spade in his head?"

An ambulance, immediately

mondaytosunday · 31/10/2022 19:34

I'm sure I've had well over 100 kids. We live walking distance to three primaries. It's like that scene from ET - we too had queue of families! All adorable, all polite! The house across the street has purple fairy lights and moving ghosts projected on their house - it's a big deal here.
