Really feel good films

I am so hungover today, got a presentation tomorrow which I am dreading, however, I am prepared for it. I am going to order a take away today and totally chill, drink lots of water and have a long shower tonight hoping I wake up feeling better tomorrow, or at least less anxious.

I need some feel good films along the lines of the blindside, the help, the pursuit of happiness etc.

Could anyone please recommend?

Whilst not entirely feel good Steel Magnolias is my go to film for this.

About Time

ParentallyUnprepared · 23/10/2022 11:24

Notting Hill.

While You Were Sleeping. Might be a but Christmassy.

Jack & Sarah is on ITV hub. I'd forgotten how good it is.

Cast Away or The Shawshank Redemption are my go-to films, but they're not exactly feel good.

Keyansier · 23/10/2022 11:29

I have the perfect film if you're feeling low and have a presentation you need to deliver on tomorrow where the protagonist is initially downtrodden but emerges from the flames like a phoenix arising and wins at life and everything:

Muriel's Wedding.

IllDoItButOnlyForTheAttention · 23/10/2022 11:29

I love Groundhog Day for this.

Or something silly like Airplane.

Keyansier · 23/10/2022 11:31

I should also add Muriel's Wedding has one of the best endings in a film I've ever seen.

WensleydaleCrumbs · 23/10/2022 11:38

Oh I'd totally forgotten about Muriel's Wedding!

I love that film so much! I know what I'm doing this afternoon now.

It’s available on Netflix. It includes drag queens tho so depends on your views on that

mamabear715 · 23/10/2022 12:20

Big
Labyrinth
Short Circuit
The Money Pit

Sorry.. you've probably seen them all! I do LOVE an 80's film! :-)

grayhairdontcare · 23/10/2022 12:24

Hidden figures will sort you out

Scuttlingherbert · 23/10/2022 12:25

Thank you @ParentallyUnprepared, I feel like the only person who knows Jack and Sarah. I love it and introduced my husband to it when our baby was a newborn.

I feel like everyone is suggesting films that are desperately sad - I remember watching Muriel's Wedding and loving it, then rewatching it a few years later and thinking "God this is depressing."

I love Pride as a feel good film, but it has sad aspects. Moxie on Netflix is quite fun.

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/10/2022 12:27

The Intouchables.

Keyansier · 23/10/2022 12:28

@Scuttlingherbert
IMO Muriel's Wedding, as I mentioned originally, is a 'phoenix rising from the ashes' film. It is incredibly sad and depressing in parts but the payout you get at the end is well worth it.

Bemyclementine · 23/10/2022 12:30

I posted a similar thread and am working my way through the suggestions. Legally blonde I liked, also Pride was brilliant.

I watched Muriels wedding Friday and was very disappointed. Just don't get the love!

Baldrickhasaplan · 23/10/2022 12:30

I always struggle with Muriel’s Wedding because of how her poor Mum is treated. She makes me want to bawl.

RudsyFarmer · 23/10/2022 12:30

We've half watched Hidden Figures and really enjoyed it so far.
