@Benjispruce4 portugal. It’s not perfect but nothing near the shitshow the U.K. has become

It’s good you like Portugal but really it’s not all bad here, ie in daily life not on SM

HasBeans · 23/10/2022 09:49

Boris is the one who got us into this mess in the first place. The British electorate won’t forget that, or his lies, or partying while we had to mourn our loved ones alone.

Have ever been an activist or protested about anything before, but I bloody will if we end up back with him.

The Cons right now are toxic, and he embodies the worst of that.

Because he had a massive mandate from voters, and I don’t believe political manoeuvring by ambitious MPs in his own party should override that. I’d rather it went to a general election for the electorate to decide again.

I completely agree that we need a general election. But as I said in a previous post, because the Tories haven't swayed much from the original manifesto that Boris did in 2019, (Liz tried but it has been swiftly steered back,) there isn't actually a really solid reason to call one, because you vote for the party and not the leader.

But yes, I absolutely do agree we need a general election. The Tories won't call one now because they know they will 100% lose (to Labour probably.)

FortunesFavour · 23/10/2022 09:52

I agree Cons would lose a general election. Bring it on!

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 23/10/2022 09:55

Laugh and enjoy the ride until their next leadership election I suppose. It would destroy the Tory party. I just wish it wasn't going to fuck the rest of us over too.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 23/10/2022 09:57

Think ffs and then get on with life. I'm astounded by this entire shitshow.

EVHead · 23/10/2022 09:58

I joined the Labour Party yesterday and I’ll be joining any protests that I can. This situation is ridiculous. The Tories think they can do what they like. We must have a general election.

No he didn't. Nobody other than occupants of Uxbridge voted for him.

Mentalpiece · 23/10/2022 10:01

I'll just go about my day as usual.

This. Hardly anyone actually voted for him.

And since this vote so much has happened to discredit him that frankly if he had any bone of decency in his body he would be slinking away with his tail between his legs.

dimples76 · 23/10/2022 10:03

Part of me thinks that it might be a good thing as I think the Tories might totally fall apart and we might get a general election soon. But then I think what harm could be done in the meanwhile ...

Lapland123 · 23/10/2022 10:04

Joining a riot

Yes, people cannot retrospectively decide that votes cast in our parliamentary system must be for one specific PM. If you want a directly elected PM by all means make that argument, but that won't be a retrospective vote.

DeadButDelicious · 23/10/2022 10:13

I think I've reached some sort of political delirium where if it did happen I'd just laugh. It beggars belief that things have got this bad.

My chaotic side kind of wants to see them both get on the ballot and do the televised hustings. Maybe we can get them to duke it out? Queensbury rules style.

YouCanSpeakWhenYoureMakingSense · 23/10/2022 10:14

If he does it really will be the end of the Tory party, so bring it on, I say!

Costacoffeeplease · 23/10/2022 10:17

@MarshaBradyo I'm glad you feel like that. Unfortunately friends and family tell me different

MariEllie · 23/10/2022 10:18

The fact that the man who is ditched by his party now wants to make a comeback shows the incredible ego of the man and the stupidity of the party. And to think that waiting for us in the opposition is probably even worse.

Costacoffeeplease · 23/10/2022 10:19

I’d like to see what all those who resigned and caused his previous downfall do. I’ve heard of at least one who is supposedly backing him again 🤮

yes it probably depends on where you are and who is around you

Crazypaving22 · 23/10/2022 10:21

The only way I’d celebrate next week, is if we hear we’re actually being allowed the general election we deserve.

pawsbaws · 23/10/2022 10:22

Untitledsquatboulder · 23/10/2022 08:27

I'll start voting Labour (rather than lib dem).

Good to hear this. Though if you really want your vote to count look into whether tactically a Lib Dem or Labour vote is the best placed in your constituency - if you have a Tory MP who needs removed.

ShhDoNotTell · 23/10/2022 10:27

Fine. I rather like the gumption.

FrenchOnionShoeBox · 23/10/2022 10:27

I’ll just carry on regardless, then vote Labour at the next election.

walkingonsunshinekat · 23/10/2022 10:30

You don't work in health, education, social services, seen mortgage payments double, pensions falling and foreign investors avoiding UK.

The UK is a basket case, anyone who doesn't see that is well off or blind.

UK now referred to as Britaly, a reference to how Italy changed Governments and lurched from one financial crisis to another a few years ago but even they had more political stability and of course were in the EU, so had that as a back stop, we ve neither.

Despair and be very vocal on Twitter and in real life too.
