As title really. Just wondering if, on an anonymous basis, the results here would reflect what I’m hearing around me in real life.

Would you personally like to see Boris return to being PM?

YABU - yes
YANBU - no

(There’s no bias in the choice of which is unreasonable - I just had to pick one!)

No, it's much too late and he has done too much damage already. It has to be Rishi as he is best qualified for the job but thanks to the inherent rascism everywhere it seems a brown man isn't going to be very popular

A lying cheating disgraceful lump that will be a big fat no Thank you. He still hasn't been cleared.
The country is a joke

balalake · 22/10/2022 14:39

16% saying yes, very concerning.

The kind interpretation is that you want the Tories to mess up again to make sure they are in opposition from January 2025 for a very long time.

Passanotherjaffacake · 22/10/2022 14:41

No way - he is as corrupt as they come. Clown king sums it up for me.

the affable chap stuff is such bollocks.

The very idea he did well is covid is the biggest joke ever played on us.

Horrified the TP are considering it TBH.

halfthesun · 22/10/2022 14:44

No

LadyMary50 · 22/10/2022 14:45

No way!!

DuchessofAnkh99 · 22/10/2022 15:09

I think when taking this poll it is worth remembering that Mumsnet is predominately left wing, and female so there will be a vast bias in this sample....

Flapjacker48 · 22/10/2022 15:12

BoJo is a corrupt idiot.

balalake · 22/10/2022 15:36

@DuchessofAnkh99 agreed about the almost all female, that makes the 16% even more concerning. Mr Johnson's ill-treatment of women is a disgrace and alone makes him unfit for office, and that is just the things we know about.

Dangey · 22/10/2022 16:12

This is a clever way to disguise the question “Are you completely insane?” And it’s useful to discover that 17% on MN are utterly stark raving bonkers

Mumsnet's Twitter nickname is "Prosecco Stormfront" and there is no way to determine sex on the internet. I could be called Brian or Bryony and you'd never know.

GreatHonkingPudding · 22/10/2022 16:16

I'm on my phone so haven't voted.

Three guesses who this word cloud is about?

neverbeenskiing · 22/10/2022 17:40

All those on this thread who've said they would be happy for Johnson to come back as PM, does it not bother you at all that he is a racist? If not, what do you think that says about you?

5128gap · 22/10/2022 18:05

No. Because he really is frighteningly popular amongst voters who engage at a very basic level; 'he got Brexit done' ' he got us the vaccine' and so forth; and I genuinely fear he could increase the chances of the Tories getting in again if a GE comes soon after. Perhaps I under estimate people, but going on the comments of those interviewed on the news, the almost childlike 'We want Boris back' 'I'll only vote Conservative if Boris is back' and when asked why 'Because I LIKE him', I'm not sure.

Anonymouseposter · 22/10/2022 18:18

It's alarming that a sizeable number of people "LIKE" him. It explains why Con men are successful though.

Blossomtoes · 22/10/2022 18:18

Wasn’t it hard enough to get rid of him in July?

Anonymouseposter · 22/10/2022 18:18

The capital C was accidental but perhaps apt.

Daisy03 · 22/10/2022 18:19

So fucking angry it's even an option.
Any mp who put in a vote of no confidence against him should resign if he does come back.
It's a complete lack of integrity of all concerned.

Tal12 · 22/10/2022 18:23

There was a older man in my local Waitrose saying to the cashier ‘Bring back Boris’. Literally couldn’t get my head around WHY anyone (.. even a hardcore Tory!!) would think this is a good idea?!?!?! Can you imagine what an absolute mockery this would make of our political
system?!? The must corrupt Tory government. Surely there needs to be a general election?!

I'm in the "anyone but Penny Mordaunt" camp.

The Tories are toast now. They won't even be able to retain enough seats in 2025 to form the Opposition.😂😂😂 And I have to admit that Boris Johnson is the best at wrecking them.😁

StopStartStop · 22/10/2022 18:31

Couldn't wait to see the back of him. He was a crashing disappointment.

I'm a long-term Conservative but I'd like to see them out of office for long enough to regroup, re-establish some principles and get some clear policies ready for improving the economy and everything else.

This has been an absolute balls-up. But... let's see what a mess Labour can make while we pull ourselves together and get ready to make a better job of things.

StopStartStop · 22/10/2022 18:32

Definitely not Penny Mordaunt! Rishi if necessary, but start training up Miriam Cates. She's a decent woman, as far as one can tell.
