To sack cleaner for this?

My husband and I had a mix up today and both left cash out to pay the cleaner. She has taken both lots of cash so double her normal payment for the day. Would I be unreasonable to sack her for this? My husband is saying we should just not pay her next week but I am concerned now about her honesty. What would you do?

She has admitted to stealing money from you. She didn't have any explanation for taking it. You really need to take this further.

Surrly if her intentions had been nefarious then she would have just point blank denied?

Catzby · 26/10/2022 21:49

She might have genuinely thought you were paying her an advance, especially if it was left out with usual money and twice at that!

So we’ve been in touch with her and she confirmed that she did take both sets of cash and didn’t offer any explanation as to why she had done that. Just updating for those who were convinced that my husband had taken it/lied about leaving it.

Still cogitating about what to do about it.

@Katrinawaves - no need for cogitation. Tbe joy of using an agency is you can request a different cleaner - it’s not like she’s tbe only cleaner in tbe works

why did you not ask her why she took both

It's really frustrating when MNers are supportive and help someone, then OP levees you hanging... (ye she took both lots of £50 , how's she took both & OP said she is "still cogitating what to do.. "

Agreed! Left in suspense....

TLDR did you sack her in the end?
