Sorry to be thick but just to clarify, if your MP is recorded as voting Aye then they voted FOR buffer zones?

Mine is an Aye So I want to drop him a note of thanks unless I've got it all wrong? ConfusedBlush

You're correct. Anyone voting Aye is for the buffer zones.

MrsPaddyGrant · 19/10/2022 13:35

I've emailed my MP to ask why she voted against this. I'll get a written response back in 6 weeks time which wont say very much.

WireSkills · 19/10/2022 13:42

I was surprised to not see my local MP on the list and before I read your second post thought "I bet he wasn't didn't even vote", so went and checked the list.

Totally surprised me by actually voting yes in favour of it. The one and only time he's actually voted on a "controversial" topic in a way that I agree with.

Thank you for pointing this out though OP - I wasn't aware of the vote going ahead. Thank heavens, as a whole, the house saw sense.

WireSkills · 19/10/2022 13:44

Clymene · 19/10/2022 12:23

I'm amazed my Tory MP voted yes. I always thought he was a spineless wanker but maybe I've misjudged him.

😂I would like to say I think we have the same one, but I suspect it's a popular characteristic trait among many of them!

DnaDna · 19/10/2022 14:00

My MP is on there. Woman hater, so no surprise. Shame on them all.

RunningFromInsanity · 19/10/2022 14:01

Mine voted Aye. Very pleased.

FlorettaB · 19/10/2022 14:05

Kemi Badenoch voted against extending the right of women to take the abortion pill at home. I don’t see how that’s anything to do with free speech.

TimetoNCagain · 19/10/2022 14:08

Not in the least surprised to find my MP Philip Davies on that list, he seems to actively dislike all his constituents, but particularly women.

It isn’t. Tory excuses for hypocrisy.

miceonabranch · 19/10/2022 14:52

Interesting. I wonder how many of these disgusting people have adopted or foster disadvantaged and unwanted children.

Let me guess.

FannyCann · 19/10/2022 14:52

Thanks @girlmom21

miceonabranch · 19/10/2022 14:55

My husband knows one of them and she voted against providing free school meals for disadvantaged children a few years ago. Supposed to be a Christian.

newsaint · 19/10/2022 14:58

@AngeloMysterioso

Leaving the rights or wrongs of buffer zones aside, its a sign of bad faith that your argument is built on lies.

No-one "harasses" women who want to kill their unborn child in an abortion clinic, that's a bald lie.

I have looked into this at some length and its clear these people just stand quietly with signs offering support if anyone wants it.

The legislation is not aimed at avoiding harrassment, but rather the women entering simply don't want to be reminded of what they are doing.

It is against the law to harass people and the Police have existing powers to deal with such behaviour where it occurs.

I often wonder what sort of person thinks its OK to kill unborn children whom they have created through their own actions, and then to defend that with lies.

yogafairy · 19/10/2022 14:58

Not surprised to see mine on there at all. Such a vile human being.

newsaint · 19/10/2022 15:01

@miceonabranch

It isn't "disgusting" to offer support or alternatives to women who find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy, that's a frankly stupid thing to suggest.

When I hear things like that, I often wonder if such people are used as a target for those who wish to redirect their own shame or regret.

newsaint · 19/10/2022 15:05

@C8H10N4O2

Rees-Mogg, happy to profit from abortion pills

That's another lie.

He never profited from abortion pills. The pills in question were some kind of stomach medicine which, if they were abused, it turns out they could cause a miscarriage.

That doesnt make them "abortion pills" anymore than kicking a pregnant women in the stomach means you have "abortion shoes".

What a stupid thing to suggest, though you probably read it in the paper and accepted it without thought.

They don't offer support, they harass and hurl abuse. People who do that to vulnerable women are disgusting.

reigatecastle · 19/10/2022 12:33

I had missed Esther McVey making a reappearance. How did I miss that? I thought she'd gone off to the US or something.

I knew she and her ghastly husband (my MP) would be on that list before I even read down it.

newsaint · 19/10/2022 15:07

@Giggorata

detest what you say but defend to the death your right to say it

To be fair, there is quite a gulf between tolerating views you don't agree with (which is reasonable) and viewing human life as a disposable by-product of meaningless sex (which is not reasonable).

Quite a gulf indeed.

MephistophelesApprentice · 19/10/2022 15:08

@newsaint

You're bearing false witness. I literally saw nuns shrieking Bible verses in the ears of women as they walked out of the one near mine. Odious people. When the consultation about a buffer zone was put it by the council I couldn't agree fast enough, and was proud when they implemented the buffer zone.

Liars, oppressors and torturers, wanting to enslave women via their wombs. Slavers should swing.

miceonabranch · 19/10/2022 15:05

Quite. If support’s needed, it should be unbiased, not offered by pro lifers where it’s served up with a big side dish of guilt.

Where did you do your research? Was it a in book called Confirmation Bias: a study in self justification by any chance? My friend was yelled at about “killing her unborn child” when accompanying her husband to a clinic for a hysterectomy ffs. These people are relentless. They do not stand quietly with their signs and even if they did, there is a place for it and it’s not outside medical centres. People are welcome to protest however abhorrent their views, outside parliament where laws are made.

If you are going to be forced birth, own it. Stop trying to wrap it up in faux concern for women. This is nothing to do with alternative choices and everything do to with control and coercion of women whose rights you view somewhere well below foetuses.

Echobelly · 19/10/2022 15:11

I suspect most of these MPs (not fucking Rees Mogg, of course) are pro choice, so I don't know why they'd do that, I really don't. Protecting women is too woke or something?!
