Dear Lord above, I've seen people removed and banned from pubs for less. She's the Home Secretary. What have we come to?

I'm a fighter, not a quitter.

Keep fighting Mary! We need you in place for the General Election.

Remember you are a lion. Or even a cougar.

So we now have a Home Secretary who is not half mad? It's been so long with piranhas in the seat, I've forgotten who the last reasonably sane occupant was. Teresa May?

Theresa May got rid of 20,000 Police officers, I seem to recall. Which seemed like an act of madness.

Applesonthelawn · 19/10/2022 18:34

She's a dreadful woman and I don't believe for one second that she didn't do this deliberately just to distance herself from Truss and try to sound honourable in the process. Sickeningly careerist and self-serving.
Where I work it would be impossible to remove work related documents from the building or send them to a private device. I can't believe this isn't deliberate.

Ryder68 · 19/10/2022 18:37

I'm really frightened of the tories. Have been for years, but they seem to get worse and worse. As a pp says, we're like a failing S American state now.

earyana · 19/10/2022 18:42

I genuinely do not understand how she got this far in her career.

citroenpresse · 19/10/2022 18:44

No more Braverman so (at last!) a Brexit benefit...Schapps doesn't look the safest pair of hands but it's not going to be for long...GE surely by Christmas.

Lifeomars · 19/10/2022 18:45

Odious woman, she was verbally slaughtered by Yvette Cooper yesterday after her asinine nonsense about the "Guardian reading tofu eating wokerati" . Playground nonsense from someone who was holding one of the highest offices of state. Really glad she has gone, who's next?

Catlady2021 · 19/10/2022 18:46

In terms of leaders we needed someone like Yvette Cooper or Andy Burnham. People that have some sense and actually get it.

Tansytea · 19/10/2022 18:49

I think we are all going to find the word omnishambles very useful again.

Catlady2021 · 19/10/2022 18:49

Does anyone think there really will be a GE? Doesn’t the Tory party have to allow this to happen? Why would they?
I heard on the radio the other day that another GE would lead to more instability in the markets causing more uncertainty.
The again this was a Tory MP- Roger Gale.

justwondering123456 · 19/10/2022 18:53

Suella Braverman is a horrible woman. I thought it couldn't get any worse than Priti Patel, but than the Tories pulled her out of the dumpster.

Diamondsareforever123 · 19/10/2022 18:56

General election now. The Tories have shown themselves for the scum they are. Even daily mail readers are being affected by their mishandling of the economy. Jeremy Corbyn didn't get in because his critics said that he'd crash the economy .....at least I'd have been able to put the heating on!

Not before the boundary review in May there won't be...

pointythings · 19/10/2022 18:59

I agree with @RedToothBrush - they need to get their gerrymandering done first.

This is absolutely wild. Government minister being asked, at the despatch box, being asked by one of his own MPs, whether or not the vote they’re about to make will mean they lose the whip, and he won’t answer the question.

theworldhas · 19/10/2022 19:01

The tofu insult is so silly and parochial as well. It’s like being governed by five year olds.

RedToothBrush · 19/10/2022 19:02

Government announces the fracking vote is no longer a confidence vote - because of the scale of the expected rebellion by Tory MPs. Truss could not afford to expel them. It is no longer clear what authority she has over her party. Extraordinary. Yes (yawn), another u-turn

Anyone nostalgic for the strong and stable government of Theresa May...?

My son knew the difference between right and wrong when he was 5.

theworldhas · 19/10/2022 19:04

“Coalition of chaos”. Hilarious stuff. If the electorate has an ounce of sense they should be out of power for two decades at least. The last decade has shown them as economically illiterate, massively incompetent, corrupt and self-interested.

Totally agree!
If it were a genuine error, she, like Patel before her, would have ridden it out but she used this to take shots at Truss.

Goldpaw · 19/10/2022 19:06

How can it no longer be a confidence vote when so many are going to rebel? Surely the very epitomy of lost confidence, or does it work in a different way?

One of the (many) things I hate about this government is the way they make May look reasonable. Anyone remember the ‘Go Home’ vans?

Vote is going on now.

Massive Tory row going on in the lobby, literally trying to force people through. Lots of anger
