Dear Lord above, I've seen people removed and banned from pubs for less. She's the Home Secretary. What have we come to?

Yvette Cooper’s response was magnificent. I want her as our next Home Secretary. Well I’d rather like her as PM but that won’t happen.

She was amazing.

I see Braverman has either resigned or been sacked. I wonder who’s next.

Livinginanotherworld · 19/10/2022 16:39

She’s getting into position for the top job…we are all fucked

It feels like forever since we've had a calm, civilised politician - but it was Corbyn. I also liked him bringing people's questions to PMQs.

I think "rant", "shout" and "scream" are used wrongly a lot.

I agree, Corbyn shamed the lot of them with his his calm polite behaviour, and the way he represented the actual concerns of ordinary people. I remember Cameron taking the piss out of him for bringing questions from real people. Of course the Tories thought that was hilarious - you know actually listening to, and representing people who have elected you!

BorisJohnsonsHair · 19/10/2022 16:40

Slight aside, but I don't believe for one minute that her teachers called her Suella. I think she did it herself because she's a nasty little snob.

marmitegirl01 · 19/10/2022 16:40

Well she just resigned

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 19/10/2022 16:42

Awww, poor old Sue. I hope someone sends her a bouquet of tofu to commiserate.

To think the Tories used to be seen as the safest pair of hands. It's jaw dropping how this zombie government lurch from one drama to the next. ERG loons. Fire the lot of them.

If the Tory party members didn't vote for Sunak, Sue Ellen has no chance.

(obviously I've just jinxed us all and she will declare herself PM for the next 30 years)

Suella Braverman gone as Home Secretary - not clear what has happened. Told it’s security related

Grant Shapps expected to be the new Home Secretary

There were discussions about Sajid Javid returning to role - but they ended after he threatened to name Truss’s comms director

Pippa Crerar AT PippaCrerar
Multiple sources told me this avo that Braverman was being sacked - with some claiming at behest of Jeremy Hunt who they said was now “pulling the strings".

(No 10 sources still denying she was "sacked" - and Hunt's people denying responsibility)

Now peston reporting that Suella Braverman has been asked to resign over an issue relating to “security" - but Tory right feeling that she has been stitched up. None of this will make Truss's life any easier...

WTAF is going on.

theDudesmummy · 19/10/2022 16:51

I am reasonably literate, but I just can't follow Peston's Twitter thread right now. WTAF is going on? It's too complicated! Shapps did what? Javid said what?

. “If Saj hadn’t humiliated the PM” - by forcing her to suspend adviser Stein - “he’d probably be home secretary now, not Shapps”. Wow. Rome is burning

BringMeTea · 19/10/2022 16:51

Confused wtf indeed.

Iliveonahill · 19/10/2022 16:51

Honestly I’m not sure what to think anymore. My bills are out of control, my fuel to get to work is costing me a fortune and I spend a lot of time in traffic jams. I don’t trust any of them. They lied about the fuel cap. They will lie about the triple lock. They are going to cut public sector budgets yet we haven’t recovered from the last cuts when we were all in this together. But bankers bonuses and MP salaries are fine and dandy.

Anydaynowonewouldhope · 19/10/2022 16:54

Congrats OP - looks like Truss is now turning to mumsnwt for guidance

You could be the next kingmaker

theDudesmummy · 19/10/2022 16:54

British politics right now makes me feel like I've come into a TV series where I watched the first season so I know the basic premise and some of the characters, but I missed seasons two and three and so nothing makes any sense apart from the fact that the setting is the same and some of the faces are recognisable.

theDudesmummy · 19/10/2022 16:55

If Mary Elizabeth is on here: stop humiliating yourself, woman. Call a general election and resign.

They're such a pack of petty little shits.

Yeah, you focus on your hurt feelings, Liz. Don't let Javid sit at your table for lunch.

From AT SamCoatesSky live on Sky now: "This is not a resingation on principle, it's a resignation after an 'honest mistake'.

"There was an incident involving Suella Braverman sharing secure information on a private phone."

Sent an official email from her personal email account. I suspect there's more to it, or she just wanted a quick and easy release after today's tofu and wokeism...

I'm confused. Tory MPs don't resign for "honest mistakes" or breaching the ministerial code.
