Enough now. They have shown they can’t form a stable government and Truss has tanked the economy, they don’t have a mandate to impose another leader on us. This tramples over democracy and we need a general election now.

Yes.

That'll cheer up Crispin Blunt, the mate of that convicted paedophile MP he got into bother over.

Also Emily Blunt’s uncle.

Cornettoninja · 20/10/2022 13:55

It’ll take a massive ego to think they can turn this around and make a success of it. I think Penny is a good shout.

We could have avoided all this chaos if Sunak had have got the job.
FFS don’t let the Tory members have a say

I read many of them had resigned in disgust at the mud throwing by all.

Nope, Tories are split irrevocably, doesn't matter how you cut it, they are a party tied to right wing think tanks, all with competing agenda's on their version of economic policy.

Plus its possible that there will be a legal challenge if the MPs cannot convince the membership not to have a say.

EdieLedwell · 20/10/2022 13:51

So are we "Ready for Rishi" now?

😂

IndigoC · 20/10/2022 13:56

The pound is up and gilt yields are down, which says it all about what the markets thought of Truss.

justasking111 · 20/10/2022 13:56

HASTA LA VISTA 😂

SleeplessInEngland · 20/10/2022 13:56

BBC now talking just to kill time. It's huge news so they have to, but there are acutally very little new facts to discuss.

IrisVersicolor · 20/10/2022 13:57

Can the Tories overcome this shitshow to unite sufficiently to elect a leader - I don’t know if that’s possible. And while I want a GE - one right now would be very destabilising - but I don’t know that we can avoid one.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 20/10/2022 13:58

Hallebloodylujea, about time too.
All I know is that, as I decided some years ago, I’ll never vote Conservative again.
Putin must be rubbing his hands in glee while the rest of the world can’t believe what a shambles this country is.

Alondra · 20/10/2022 13:58

She's gone but the Tories are still in government and will cling to it with teeth if necessary. The problem has never been awful PMs or Brexit. The problem has always been a party ideologically embracing the hard right and stopping them from making sound policy for the best of the country.

Dave20 · 20/10/2022 13:58

If Rishi has any sense he’ll decline !
I agree the Tories are really split. The far right and the centre right. It’s always been the same- the Tories always get rid of their leaders.
They are too divided, no one knows what they stand for.

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 13:59

Does Penny Mordaunt know what a woman is ??
I really hope they go for her
She was good the other day to be fair
She wouldn't be an easy ride for the Labour Party

Brexit is absolutely the problem, it’s part and parcel of the hard right ideology.

And what Brexit did is rather than see off the threat of the party’s hard right, is fatally fragment the Tories in a way that may not be recoverable.

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 14:01

Just think. She spent most of the first week dealing with the Queen. She could have gone quicker without that!

Dave20 · 20/10/2022 14:01

The Tories are still in power for two years. They won’t risk their jobs and call for a GE. What would they gain from it?

Their only hope is a to elect a new leader and get through until the next GE.

They’ll still fuck themselves up though and carry on with a civil war within the party. They can’t help themselves.

OhAmBackAgain · 20/10/2022 14:01

Hunt not standing for leadership

oh.thank.fuck

not that I can say much about any or the others

They won’t if they can avoid it. But they may not be able to agree on a leader that has the confidence of the party. Or the country. Or anyone.

The lettuce won.

🤣🤣🤣

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 14:04

They are running scared
Cowards the whole dam lot of them
I absolutely hate them all so much
Let the people decide , it's only fair

LikeTearsInRain · 20/10/2022 14:04

Now Liz Trust is gone who do we think will be next? Lots of tv coverage suggesting Sunak and Mordaunt but also people saying they want Boris back!

Dotjones · 20/10/2022 14:05

Rishi Sunak is still favourite to be next PM but odds have drifted from 1.6 to 1.9 in last 20 minutes.

Penny Mourdant moved from 4.0 to 3.0 in same timescle.

Next is Ben Wallace at 13.5, Boris Johnson at 40, Jeremy "I'm not standing" Hunt at 48, Kemi "Who?" Badenoch at 65 and Kier Starmer at 100.

Don't feed the troll.

A typical remark of someone with no argument who reverts to name calling.
