Tbf to her, that's a hell of a pension in exchange for dragging your own reputation through the mud and a few days work. Not so stupid after all.

I believe it’s tradition for the leader of the 1922 to tell a PM it’s time for them to bugger off with a whiskey. She’s probably pissed.

Jesus. When is Brady going into rehab for his alcoholism?

Maybe we should elect it for PM?

deserves a cabinet post at the very least

greenhousegal · 20/10/2022 13:45

Democracy in action lol.

Whatever about Tory MPs electing a Leader, being in a position to select as many Prime Ministers as they want to without a mandate from the electorate is not right. IMV of course.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/10/2022 13:46

I like how we have news today of some Russian missile or other having a near miss last week. Is this to prepare us for Ben Wallace? I have as much knowledge as the next political journo, it’s all up for grabs, speculation.

It’s really driving home the lesson your vote is for a party not a personality isn’t it?

HonorHiding · 20/10/2022 13:46

Hunt not standing for PM,

Dave20 · 20/10/2022 13:46

SafeMove · 20/10/2022 13:44

Great.

Tobias Ellwood less than hour ago talked about 2 russian aircraft shadowing an RAF plane and releasing a missile in the vicinity at the end of Sept. He said we have to be prepared for the possibility that Putin will release a low grade nuclear weapon or attacking a domestic nuclear power station. And our PM resigns and we have the 5th zombie government whilst the Tories sort their infighting, ego driven, power grabbing chaotic shit out?

We should be rioting in the streets. This is abhorrent.

Yes and wasn’t Russian jets seen flying over Alaska and had to be escorted out?
Or did I misread that?

Very worrying. Putin knows the UK is asleep at the wheel.

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 13:47

Hunt not standing for leadership.

ilovebrie8 · 20/10/2022 13:47

who will be next though?

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 13:48

Sunak, Mordaunt, Braverman - who else will stand? How many on the right wing/ERG? I counted about 50 on an old list.

mrshoho · 20/10/2022 13:48

Wow Liz Truss what an achievement. The shortest serving PM in living history. The circus continues now for the Conservative party. Wth is the next PM I have no clue. Not Penny Mordaunt I pray.

WatchoRulo · 20/10/2022 13:49

MumofHorace · 20/10/2022 13:39

Dear God, not Suella.

please God, not Suella

You are safe on that - Tory MPs won't back her

SleeplessInEngland · 20/10/2022 13:49

It's Sunak's if he wants it. Most popular with members after Johnson and most popular with his own MPs. And, y'know, he was right about not lowering taxes.

Can't believe we're doing this all over again.

christmas2022 · 20/10/2022 13:49

Did the lettuce outlive her?

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 13:49

Penny was very good on Monday or whenever that was
Anyway, we need a GE
We are being held hostage now as a country
So angry

Lonelycrab · 20/10/2022 13:50

I think Mordaunt will get it.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/10/2022 13:50

christmas2022 · 20/10/2022 13:49

Did the lettuce outlive her?

Easily. 🤣

Dave20 · 20/10/2022 13:51

We could have avoided all this chaos if Sunak had have got the job.
FFS don’t let the Tory members have a say

EdieLedwell · 20/10/2022 13:51

So are we "Ready for Rishi" now?

romatheroamer · 20/10/2022 13:51

Some sad Tory droning on in the Chamber trying to get at Bryant for taking a photo of the bullying. Your leader's just resigned ffs!

Volterra · 20/10/2022 13:52

Enough now. They have shown they can’t form a stable government and Truss has tanked the economy, they don’t have a mandate to impose another leader on us. This tramples over democracy and we need a general election now.

greenhousegal · 20/10/2022 13:52

All will calm down now during the interregnum. I don't know who we will end up with, but if it is someone with brains, emotional intelligence, and honesty I think they will limp on. Any suggestions as to who has these qualities? LOL Grin

I'd rather a GE but that's not going to happen at least until the constituency boundary changes come in I'd say, and that is May 2023 AFAIK. Gerrymandering and minimising seat loss you see.

AutumnCrow · 20/10/2022 13:52

Lonelycrab · 20/10/2022 13:50

I think Mordaunt will get it.

That'll cheer up Crispin Blunt, the mate of that convicted paedophile MP he got into bother over.

SleeplessInEngland · 20/10/2022 13:52

Fucking hell, some journalists are hearing that the party still wants members to vote on this. No confirmation yet though.
