Grazing tables...

Seen them gaining popularity on Instagram and TikTok over the last year and came across my first as the evening food at a wedding recently. No one there serving it, no gloves provided, just a grubby fingered free for all. Also flies were very attracted to it Envy

AIBU or are they a bit yuck?! They look great, but I was really put off especially after kids went up first Grin

Wouldn't be for me.. unless there were tongs everywhere & people HAD to use them..

SandraOMG · 18/10/2022 08:51

I don't like them either. I don't necessarily think it's the hygiene factor, as all buffets could have grubby fingers in them. I just think they look messy

Same.

PorkPieAndAPickledOnion · 18/10/2022 08:52

Revolting. Everything mixed up, with wet foods making dry things soggy, flavours running between items. Your photos alone make me want to heave.

SavoirFlair · 18/10/2022 08:53

They’re designed to show “abundance” and colour for TikTok and Instagram. They’re show-off centrepieces done by organisers who follow trends like sheep

As an actual eating offering? Nah - agree with all PPs not for me.

SilkySuky · 18/10/2022 08:55

I don't like the idea that meat products are just left out of the fridge for ages uncovered.

cobblers123 · 18/10/2022 08:55

If I went somewhere and this was provided for food, I wouldn't touch a thing on there.

A proper buffet where everything is on individual plates or serving platters is perfectly ok but absolutely not a grazing table.

Looks like instant food poisoning or at the very least, upset stomach. 😱

Nubbled · 18/10/2022 08:56

I really had hoped they were a thing of the past. 🤮

StupidSmallFruit · 18/10/2022 08:57

I just don’t understand what’s wrong with platters, plates and bowls.

I think the novelty will wear off soon.

juliadorking · 18/10/2022 08:58

I agree. Totally gross.

sausage767 · 18/10/2022 08:59

They give me a massive ick on this scale, although I love a small charcuterie platter shared among 2-4 people.

ChagSameachDoreen · 18/10/2022 09:00

Like something from the final days of the Roman Empire. Vile!

Aprilx · 18/10/2022 09:02

I thought this went out of fashion years ago. Looks revolting.

MatildaMonroe · 18/10/2022 09:04

I would starve before I ate from that

TheKeatingFive · 18/10/2022 09:05

I doubt mumsnet is the target market for these

newnamethanks · 18/10/2022 09:05

Ohhhh that looks utterly hideous. Who on earth would eat any if it? Shudder.

Hoppinggreen · 18/10/2022 09:06

Nope
Stuff is touching other stuff

Lmgify · 18/10/2022 09:07

Am I the only one who wants to dig in? Haha more for me! 😂

Yeah I thought it had moved on to butter boards

Incrediblebuttrue · 18/10/2022 09:10

Gross. They don't even look nice.

AnnapurnaSanctuary · 18/10/2022 09:10

I like them!

dreamingbohemian · 18/10/2022 09:11

I would literally not touch a thing on there but then I've had too many food hygiene trainings

sandytooth · 18/10/2022 09:11

AnnapurnaSanctuary · 18/10/2022 09:10

I like them!

I am genuinely interested - what do you like about them that you can't get from a buffet?

viques · 18/10/2022 09:11

Awful, I don’t enjoy eating from commercial salad bars where the food is in separate dishes and I am known for eating most things but this is just vile, huge waste of food too as I bet most of it gets binned.

dreamingbohemian · 18/10/2022 09:12

sandytooth · 18/10/2022 09:08

Butter boards are even more vile! They must be a joke surely.
