Seen them gaining popularity on Instagram and TikTok over the last year and came across my first as the evening food at a wedding recently. No one there serving it, no gloves provided, just a grubby fingered free for all. Also flies were very attracted to it

AIBU or are they a bit yuck?! They look great, but I was really put off especially after kids went up first

Ooh my younger cousin did this for her mums birthday.
Didn't realise it had a name. Thought it was odd things were on greaseproof paper not plates but I decided it was a cunning way to avoid washing up and was secretly impressed! The way they did it was nice, all cold food, all food was the type that was pretty self contained and its no less hygienic than a normal buffet

I don't like them but more so because all the food gets mixed up.

Do you tend to use gloves at buffets then OP?

One of the things that was an eye opener for me was seeing the bone-dry bar of soap in the family bathroom after a children’s party.

This is especially gross when you consider a recent MN thread where people were very very nonchalant about hand washing and even worse - almost passive aggressive about making their kids wash their grubby, snot-slimed, saliva soaked hands “it didn’t do me any harm…”

Looks pretty - and extra points for the veggie quotient - but because of absolutely unsanitary fucking mingers it’s a no from me.

Doesn't appeal to me. I've also seen online butter boards and soft cheese boards, basically said butter/cheese is artistically smeared on a wooden board and and then people scrape it odd with chunks of bread etc 😷yuk.

And me. Went to a party a couple of weeks ago that had these. Our group of friends went for a restaurant meal beforehand as we knew what was going to be offered and none of us wanted to touch it. Gross 🤢.
